Oman
IV noticed that in this map the US marines always get smashed, they can't get choppers into land troops in and attack choppers always get smacked out of the sky, and that ticket bleed is US merciless.
whats making it a duck shoot for the MEC it the view distance which for this map is 500m.
Attack choppers need a long view distance to function other wise there forced to fly too close and they get shot down that what happening on this map.
But if you increases the view distance on this map then the tanks can just snipe the US carrier so can you do?
But IV a cunning plan mi lord, Make it so only the attack choppers get a increased view distance, that way the choppers can support the troops and allow them to get on shore. Increasing the choppers view distance is not perfect due to it give them a large advantage but it the lesser of the two evils.
Or just put in a spawn point in A2. You could even put a model of a ellcak on the beach that you can spawn out off.

i don't think you can have multiple view distances for different players
as for the usmc not being able to land is because MEC-players usually don't stick to the actual tasks: to take the northern points first, but rush straight to the beaches with their apcs
so its b/c players don't stick to the objectives as supposed

How the hell did that happen :0, how could you loss???. it the easyest map for MEC you just sit on the beach snipe the black hawks and choppers rocket the APC's that come long, cut off any squads that survive and make it on to the beach and blast them into bits and you lossed :O ./ASF/.Venom wrote:actually, ive never played Oman as US, and the 4 times ive played it as MEC we have always lost for some reason :S
But it may be just the Australian servers that experiane the dead lock, i think we blokes have got deffending on this map to a fine art and we always turn it the beach into no mans land for the US marines.

Interesting...follow ur objectives and possibly lose, or hold the beach and win.SnipingCoward wrote:i don't think you can have multiple view distances for different players

I'd say that the MEC gets too much mobile AA- perhaps a rebalance since the 0.7 aa fix?

map is balanced enough. I've seen usmc win many times. If they can't even get into the mainland then it's because the chopper pilots suck. And once the battle goes inland it's 50-50, except that the usmc have choppers which will give them a small advantage.

That's why you get the added on bits on each side. You don't have to land in the centre of the map, instead make drops at the sides, set up rps, then head inland. Village usually gets in trouble soon, and you've got a nice hill to cover your approach against Hotel. Once you got those two under control, the MEC will be in serious trouble.

True! Use the terrain to your advantage, dont rush in and you will be victorious![R-MOD]dunehunter wrote:That's why you get the added on bits on each side. Anthony Lloyd, himself a former soldier in the British army and a Northern Ireland and Gulf War veteran:
"The men inside (the APC) might have been UN but they were playing by a completely different set of rules. They were Swedes; in terms of individual intelligence, integrity and single-mindedness I was to find them among the most impressive soldiers I had ever encountered. In Vares their moment had come."

Off-topic, but I have noticed, that people like to leave half damaged tanks and APCs all over the map and don't give a damn about them, or they go solo and get ambushed driving back and forth and switching to gunner/driver. Also, not a lot of SLs like to utilize IFVs/APCs in their squads.
I was the gunner in fuzzheads 2-man APC squad supporting Spacecadet's squad on Jabal and went 50-1. Kthxbye.

Seriously, I don't know how you people missed this. The APCs are a huge advantage in both mobility and firepower. Use them to clear and hold the beaches and help you take flags. If you care for them and don't get them all blow up they can serve you very well. You start with 6 LAVs on 5 minute respawn, and you have 20 minutes until the MEC gets armor. This doesn't seem like it's unnecessarily challenging....'[R-MOD wrote:dunehunter']Ever considered using the APCs? Until the MEC armor shows up they're pretty damn effective.
