Currently all the smoke grenades resemble the AN-M8 used by the United States. The smoke effect is the same, just a different color. In order to make a realistic signal flare, a new model w/ skin, as well as a new particle effect, would be needed. Or the current AN-M8 grenade could be used, either with or without a new skin, and just a new particle effect could be added. I don't actually have a clue how the particle effects work, but I imagine that it's not uber challenging, probably just a series of values.

Like it or not "Need pick up at E3; look for smoke" is real world.Prv. Pop N Fresh wrote:The idea of having a 'Landing Zone' marker placed on the map when the smoke where placed sounds like a good idea. Rather than saying "Need pick up at E3; look for smoke".
Having an icon appear on a map because smoke is popped is not.
Thats like having your smokes equipped with an automatic GPS signal.
hmmm......Im starting a new thread! LOL

I just realized that this is wrong. This is only true for the conventional armies, for insurgents and militia they're something else. Anyhow, just don't want to be caught with my pants down.Currently all the smoke grenades resemble the AN-M8 used by the United States.
So just the particle effect for the smoke could be changed and it could be put in?The M8 screening smoke grenade is virtually identical in dimensions to the M18 colored smoke grenades, so I don't think a new model would be necessary. New models would only become necessary if authentic screening and signal smoke grenades were modeled for every faction.

I would guess so, but I'm not a coder. Depending on when they were manufactured, the smoke from these grenades emit from the top and bottom, or just the top of the canisters. Different skins would be nice for them, too. But that's where my role ends, I don't have any programming or artistic skills.BloodBane611 wrote:So just the particle effect for the smoke could be changed and it could be put in?

Colours
Green flare for no emermy contact and RED for hot landing enermy attacking.
So the pilot can tell if hes coming into as hot landing zone or not.
I have been in this situation before and and its fun worked well.

so you have those huge towers of smoke that come off vehicle corpses, course theres also a big fire there, but what if you make the fire 1 cm x 1cm, and make it a flare? so you got a tower of "red" smoke for your helicopter to see?
so the Squad Leader just took MEC Outpost, and calls the transport squad for a Black Hawk to pick him up, and then he pulls out his flare(wouldnt be hard to model, would it? use the nades as a starting point) and throws it onto the ground, then a hiss escapes and a moderately high but not too thick(able to see from a bit of distance, maybe 400m?)red tower of smoke escapes and signals the chopper where to land.
also to promote doing this, award like a big teamwork score boost for the SL and the Pilot if he lands in 20m of the flare? because it kinda tells the enemy a choppers landing there.
EDIT: lol sorry, just noticed that ive put Siganl Flares, its meant to me Signal Flares
