Bring back old maps?

Post by Slavak »

How about bring back some of the older maps that were considered too "spammy" and such. They might be more playable with the changes 0.7 brings. Weapon deviation and such. Just a thought.

for sure! would love to play operation cleansweep, sharqi peninsula or shongua stalemate, in fact i think shongua stalemate would fit perfectly with PR gameplay, think about a whole squad piling into a boat and screaming down the shallow swamps to attack a CP or fortifying that american base on the hill with the blackhawk with AA guns sandbags and razor wire, or sneaking through the bamboo with your freshly modeled m16 and aiming just above a PLA's head  and watching the bullet arc into thier helmet, i would love to see shongua in the rotation and would definitely be joining a server if i saw it,forget about those crappy vanilla maps you have now: daquing oil fields or that operation server empty you call a map (zatar wetlands :26_suicid ). would like to hear what the devs think about bringing in some of the old maps.

hell yea! :P I've never even played half of these maps.

Spammy games tend to be down to the players.

Everyone whines on and on about Zatar, well when you get about 5 transport squads and 1 real squad what do you expect?

need more maps imo expecially since fools road and qinling lag for so many players, If a server is running these maps I don't even bother joining anymore because my PC is too naff to run them.

Not saying the new maps are bad, keep stretching that engine :P just saying perhaps a wee bit more variety on maps for the "others" best way to do that without masses of effort could be to bring back tweaked versions of the older maps perhaps :) it get's boring when you know every lil bump and hill that is in all the maps

Has anyone got any screen shots from old maps, bit of a memory refresher. Or could a dev/con post a bunch of no longer used map "maps" please?

Phoenix, Fallujah, Greasy Mullet and Airport are the maps which can return imo.
And Mutrah is working on the come-back...

The more the merrier I say... Maps that were "spammy" before should be better now that the SL-spawn has been removed.

I think a map has to be seriously flawed before a complete removal is considered. Better to leave it to the players/server admins to decide what maps they want to play.

I second Greasy Mullet. That was a spectacular map.

I haven't played many of these maps either, but I think it would be very interesting to bring the maps back, even just for a test run. Anyone have copies so I could check them out?

I had a thread about bringing back Steel Thunder under a new name without anything heaver than the Humvee/Nanjing or an IFV.

I always thought that Mashtuur city would be a good map for VIP escort.
