Underbarrel Grenade Launchers

Post by BloodBane611 »

'[R-DEV wrote:Jaymz']Grenadier variants should all have optics. That's the transition we are making anyway, we have them done for every faction
I just thought I would share that, it made me VERY excited. UGL G3, M16A4, and L85A2 all with UGLs, and they're all done.

Yeah...just waiting for them to be introduced. If they're done, I wonder why they where not in .7 ...

Sort of going to miss the MEC Gren weapon, though.

This is old news yeah? One reason this hasn't been introduced, for example, with the L85A2 is that the SUSAT would interfere with using the grenade launcher's sight.

Because everyone wanted the release early. :29_slaps: But I don't recall them being all completed. M16A4 and the L85A2 still needs work I think.

Plus I'm sure that grenadiers being issued optics is old news.

Why would grenadiers be offered optics? Is that realistic?

That's funny, I didn't think GL rifles had optics. Is it very common?

If they can fire out to 400m it makes sense to me. The chinese kit has it allready.

I'll miss the mec AK though

yes, epically for the L85A2 as the GL cover cant have a Iron Sight attached to it, thou there is a modifed version that came out not long ago that can but its not used much.

I dont think that would work, in fact I know it wouldn't work as the models are done, most need a UV done and mainly to be skinned and then imported :p

Fairly sure that the optics cannot be used for aiming these UGL's. Look at the pictures. In the all of them, the quadrant sights/leaf sites are mounted off centre. In the case of the M4's, I can't see any sighting equipment for the UGL, just ACOG's and what I think is an Eclan sight. I know, however, that there are at least two sights for the M203 (leaf and quadrant) but I think only the quadrant sight (which is mounted to the side) works. Don't hold me on this.

I believe there is an optic for aiming the M203 on an M16, but I don't believe it's much used. Anyhow, none of the above optics are used to aim the UGL.

I was happy about the fact that the UGLs are (mostly) done. They've been in the works, and if you've used the chinese grenadier kit with any frequency you know just how awesome is can be to have both the GL and an optic.

I still wish you could use the leaf sights properly. ie guess the range to target, press a button to align the the appropriate notch on the leaf sight with the front post, aim then fire. It would be possible if you had a series of "maglinked" UGL equipped weapons - one for each leaf sight notch. You would need a fair few weapon slots though (5 per round type), new sights, new animations and some fancy coding.

I'm pretty sure you just helped make his point...

Anyone ever seen of these mounted on a weapon? Certainly rarely, if at all. No mention of the US buying any either, and most manufacturers like to brag about that. Not saying that we haven't, but everything points to it being a rare piece of equipment (honestly, probably with good reason).
