Right, and what he wants is just the vehicle-mounted version of the 203. Sort-of.

Personally, I'm neither for or against it; I don't see a need for it, but it would be fun.

I think he wants a Mk 19 ;)

On a scale of 1 to totally pointless, this ranks a 10 out of 10. Someone is going to have to model it in order to put it ingame, and I don't think the DEVs have expressed any kind of interest, so unless someone is stepping up the discussion is pointless.

The argument against adding the grenade launchers is always the spam factor. But like others have mentioned, it would really just be a redundant version of an APC or IFV's HEAT rounds. You can even argue that the same effect can be achieved by deploying AA guns and using them to suppress enemy positions (Those things freaking rape infantry).

Given the fact that such a device would not be man portable (Would be commonly mounted on a jeep), you could limit the amount that exist on the maps at any time. Then consider the fact that jeep gunners have short lifespans due to the nature of how jeeps are commonly used, countering a GL equipped jeep might be easier than what most might believe.

I just don't see a major problem with implementing the device.

From many of the posts that I've read in this thread, the conclusion has been reached about whether there is a large "problem" if Vehicle Mounted AGLs were added to the game. There isn't, the AGL on a HUMVEE or other armored transport would just be redundant to an IFV's HEAT rounds with less armor.

With that in mind, other posts have also pointed out that there wouldn't be much problem WITH it in game, but HOW to get it in game. Driving around an armored transport with a AGL instead of a .50cal, on the el' grande' scale of things wouldn't contribute that much to the overall gameplay.

Conclusion? Possible, but not expected. Not anytime soon for that matter.

I REALLY dislike speculation among people who don't have ANY confirmation whatsoever. Considering this statement has been false for oh.....2 years.

All I was trying to say by this:
1. NO to man portable AGL = I'm not talking about man portable AGL
2. The model itself will not be made by the DEVs = I'm not talking about introducing vehicle mounted AGL in to PR directly by the DEVs.

It's just another discussion about "What if...." and I'm collecting opinions from various community members (and the DEVs of course :mrgreen :) .

So, is this wrong?

BTW. Your avatar is very distracting :D

Vehicle mounted might work. The mk19 is somewhat common mounted on Humvees and MRAPs. In game the fact that it is an armored vehicle makes it fair because vehicles are supposed to be deadly.

The one in ARMA sorta sucked, as I could propell my humvee with it.

If this is Project Reality and they are used IRL then add it (if someone models it, of course).
For those worried about spamming...SO what? What about the AA being used to decimate infantry as someone pointed out above? or a little bird strafing and strafing and strafing and strafing and strafing and strafing and strafing and strafing....oh sorry, lost it for a second...but you get my point...er...what was my point?

If someone makes one then I'm sure it could be added to the game.
However, seeing as it contributes little to nothing positive to the gameplay, it is not close to being a developer priority - realism has nothing to do with it
This mod team has proven that they consider game design equally if not far more important than the cosmetic changes that so many clamour for (new skins, guns, armies, vehicles etc.). It's why I <3 them :)
