You are somewhat incorrect - the ACOG and SUSAT scopes have emergency ironsights mounted on the scope itself used for target acquisition and in the event that the scope lenses get damaged for example. I can accept though that Jaymz understood what I meant and that again because of the BF2 engine, it's another feature that won't flyBloodBane611 wrote:But to have irons and an optic on the M16A4 rifles (as I don't believe you can have backup irons on the L85) would be pointless, because you'd have to take the optic off in order to use only the irons, and that doesn't happen in combat.

I find iron sights an *** to use due to the fact that after the first shot you have to realign, taking a much longer time to reacquire the target (especially prone divers) since you now can't see them at all. IRL I'd imagine it'd be a bit easier since you can open your other eye, whereas ingame you'd need to zoom out, zoom back in to accomplish the same effect. Therefore I vote for aimpoint replacements for all the ironsights.
?
Mmm will everyone have a G36 variant too'[R-CON wrote:BetterDeadThanRed;605558']You are sure going to love the German's then. Everybody gets a red dot and a 3.5x scope!

If they were to go through and model the ACOG that features the BUIS, why not model one that has the backup red-dot.ReaperMAC wrote:I guess wikipedia/global secruity or whatever your source is has failed you.

Screw all this other **** what I really want to know is why the hell do the iron sight rifles have more recoil than scoped ones. Its absolutely absurd that the optic rifles are easier to handle even though they are zoomed in and the sight picture should travel more because of it. If we can eliminate this by lessening it then the rifles will be balanced and more user friendly because this is really getting on my nerves.

Razick might have a point there. The ironsites could use a little help. Its not like they risk "dominating" or something. I'm not sure why the recoil is off but I have definitely noticed that its hard to figure out where your gun will shoot with the ironsites. Like some of the ironsite guns aren't sited in very well. Might be from Vanilla and the inability to edit their models though.

Because the testers had a whinge, IIRC, was a Dev's response... As I have stated before, steady time should not be the consistent, arbitrary value of 1 1/3 seconds as it is now. It should be based on the weapons' weight and that weights' positioning. Weapons with a large weight away from the firer (eg an assault rifle w/ UGL) should have are larger steady time then weapons without (eg the same assault rifle without any attachments). Also, isn't getting a good sight picture with a fairly high powered optical sight slower than irons? Maybe a longer sight-up time for weapons with optics. Not sure if there is an animation problem there though...Razick wrote:Screw all this other **** what I really want to know is why the hell do the iron sight rifles have more recoil than scoped ones.

Scoped and unscoped rifle
Hey guys another sugestion for scoped rifles,
my suggestion is that you can switch between a scoped rifle and a rilfe with iron sight so i mean you can take the scope of if you want its better for city fights and so... and you can put it on the rifle again for bigger distance fights like in desert or so...
is this posible that you can press any button the scope getting on the rifle and the same button can put it off. its not for every class only for the grenadier of usmc(i saw a lot of pics of grenadiers with scope), rifleman, rifleman at, officer.
thats all for now
(sry for bad english...)

You wouldn't even have to remove the scope, most modern scopes have a little ironsight on top of them.
As far as I know it is possible, at least I heard that the guys from the german-forces mod managed to get a G36 that has a Reflex- as well as a 3.5x sight. The drawback is that this you would need two weapons, and I think this rather awkward solution is the reason it isn't implemented (yet).

As easy and moderately realistic as it might be, I actually prefer having an ACOG rifleman and an ironsight rifleman as two distinct classes. I enjoy the pros and cons of each... While I dont disagree with the above idea, I personally just like the ironsight+ammo and rifleman ACOG decision. It offers a good choice between what your squad needs. And I dont know much about the real military, but something tells me you dont keep taking your ACOG on and off during an engagement. I understand your double gun(one with one without) but I really like it as it is.
That is, of course, just my opinion though

as far as I know the acog doesn't have adjustable magnification. (could be wrong though) As for the other factions, I have no idea which scopes they use. But if one of them has adjustable scopes then it would be cool to have it ingame..blend wrote:Giving the scope to zoom lvls, one without any zoom, and one with standard zoom would be realistic, as u can mostly adjust the scope, am i right?

That is correct - combat scopes have a fixed magnification of 4X (ACOG, SUSAT, PSO1), 3.4X (Elcan C79) or 1.5X (Steyr Aug A1 default sight) for example. Precision scopes such as Leopold Variants operate quite differently ... and are far more fragile as a result.mammikoura wrote:as far as I know the acog doesn't have adjustable magnification. With the Accuracy International Rifles I think you can do it. No backup sights AFAIK.$kelet0r wrote:Once you take the scope off, you can't just pop it back on - the zero would be lost and the weapon next to useless because of it. Like Hardtmann said there are (poor quality) backup sights on the scope itself, but the Devs reckon it can't be implemented satisfactorily ingame.
