Is there any intention to add the AH-64D in Al Basrah?

Post by asianator365 »

The title pretty much sums up the point of this post, but I'll repeat it for some of you: Is there any intention to add the AH-64D to the Al Basrah map?

Al Basrah was advertised after they took away the A-10s and AH-1Zs as a map that would contain a pair of AH-64D Apaches to make up for the loss of the other aircraft. So far I haven't seen them, even though the beginning of the map says a pair of Apaches is on standby. Is there any plan to add them?

There was also supposed to be another urban map that would star the US Marines, but I haven't seen that map either. Is this in the making, or has it been scrapped? It seems to me like we keep taking the US out of the equation and replacing them with the British.

dont think so, besides if they had wanted it in, they would have placed it on the .6 patch.

Apaches would be able to easily take out cache's from the air, wouldn't be much of a round.

The US still outnumber the UK when it comes to maps, and there are a bunch of US maps in production atm.

again, i wish some kind of attack chopper was back in basrah. people constantly complain about how "unfair" and "out of balance" it would be. uh yeah no s@#t its not even close to fair and balanced in real life either.

i like playing basrah as insurgents and an attack chopper wouldn't be that bad. A decently co ordinated team would use civis and therefore negate the kill everything abilities of the apache. However i wouldn't want the apache in because of it's ability to find and destroy caches.

well that same chopper can snipe out tanks from 500m in the sky with a well co-ordinated team so it's not that weak to insurgents fire...

Oh how I do miss gunships in Basrah, even as insurgent, would give some meaning back to the SA-7.

To destroy the caches, the chopper would have to know where they are, which would add a whole new level of the spec ops scouting out caches, targeting them, and letting the apache do it's work.

I don't think it would be to unbalanced. I've done some testing with the manpads and if you're not releasing flares on your approach you're dead meat.

Emnyron, 600 seems to be a perfect alitude on Kashan and Qinling, you don't have to openly expose yourself to enemy fire. Oman is an exception but that is a terrible map with too much assets.

View distance in Basrah is 340 meters and with fixed AA it would be pretty much too easy to shoot one down, at least for me. All you would have to do is to get on a rooftop and wait for your opportunity. No need to use those pickup trucks with mounted .50cal even tho their ROF is insane and would tear the apache apart in 3 seconds without the pilot even hearing it.

I personally don't want the Apache in, You could call me a baseraper, but I set my IED's near the british base, on the road leading out of their base, and with a apache, IED setting would be reduced ALOT, unless there were hiding places, and there aren't, its a desert! What stands out more then a pickup in the middle of a yellow desert! I say nay.

A little off topic here, but i'v taken out tanks from 1050 M away and 400 Altitude, good times in .6 kashan :)

Its simple.. increase view distance, hide the ammo crates under something. And its apache ready.

it doesn't matter how fair it is..in real life the brits almost always have fast air or attack heli support.

al basrah needs ah -64 but the bad thing would be all the nilla people stealing then crashing it.

That Challenger is more out of place then the Apache ever was, especially with the new Rifleman AA-system.
Without saying any neccessarily should belong there.
But then again, i never really had the compassion for Al Bashra that so many others have/had.
