APCs smoke, Smoke, SMOKE!!
What disables snipers and tanks that like to sit in the hills? SMOKE!
What is hard to supply a lot of over a large area? SMOKE!
The grenadier kit is tough to place right or very far and a lot clears out while reloading. Smoke grenades don't help in big movements.
Give the APC a smoke grenade machine gun. It is already underused as direct support, and in transport many feel its a big coffin. With lots of smoke now it can drive in clouds of smoke cover to protect its passengers and cover a point from a distance to allow troops to advance, or block the sight of tanks on a ridge and allow troops on the ground to do something.
Something similar would also be nice in the co-pilot seat of the transport copter.

I actually move forward in front of infantry and then lay down smoke on a position and move out to cover their movement forward through the smoke into their new covered position. APC are meant to be used WITH infantry not always by themselves like everyone seems to like to use them. Even good squads don't understand why I stop to give infantry squads lifts when I drive the APC. The way I look at it, it's just more warm bodies to direct fire downline or take bullets instead of me. Who knows, sometimes the blue guys surprise you and do rather well.

APCs do not smoke enough imo. Smoke can be very useful if used correctly.
But I know for a fact nedlands did some work on the smoke, and was talking to the DEVs about it. And now he is an R-CON. Coincidence? I think not.
So expect it thicker, larger, and overall improved sometime in the future.

Awesome, I was wondering when that would be put in... is it official? Hopefully with this the HAT can be unnerfed if the smoke diverts those missiles or even if it doesn't.'[R-CON wrote:nedlands1;610082']Want somma this? You may get some of it sometime.

Now THATS what a smoke screen should be like
P.s. OP "smoke grenade machine gun" isn't quite the right sort of words you're looking for
There's no such thing as a smoke grenade machine gun for long ranges
This is more like "Realistic smoke screens" or something

Back in .302, smoke was a weapon option on the list for tanks; I can't remember if it launched a smoke shell, or if it just popped smoke around the tank, but the former would be awesome to have

Fantastic idea!
If APCs could use their cannon to fire some smoke rounds it would take working with infantry squads to a whole new level.
Example:
There are 3 squads at work:
- Commander
- INF Squad
- APC Squad
INF Squad sends request to commander:
"Commander, can you ask APC Squad to give us some smoke to cover our approach"
Commander sends request to APC Squad:
"APC Squad, please fire smoke on my marker to cover INF Squad's approach"
APC responds:
"Roger"
APC then fires smoke to cover the INF Squad's approach.
I guess the only limitation would be lag in the server, but I don't really know how much smoke can be deployed before serious lag. Honestly 3-4 shots of smoke every 30-45 seconds should be fine because smoke in PR is very thick and sticks around for some time.

The rounds fired from these smoke grenade launchers don't travel far in real life. The M250 smoke grenade discharger's mounted on the M1A2 land ~30m from the tank. I expect a similar result from the launchers mounted on other tanks/APCs. I seriously doubt that there would be a smoke round for the 25mm/30mm cannons these APCs have.
