Iron Sight Recoil vs Scoped Recoil

Post by CAS_117 »

I'm not sure why, but it seems to me that the muzzle climb for iron sight weapons is almost 4x greater than that of scoped ones. It seems extremely easy to keep my aimer on target with a scope, but my iron sight jumps all over the place. Will the recoil on scopes be increased? Or will recoil on iron sights be reduced? :? ??:

i hope iron sights get reduced

this was in some really old topic but yeah the scoped weapons' recoil were reduced so itd be easier to fire..as in, if the scoped recoil = ironsight recoil, ur scope will be jumping really far and u prob wont see ur target again after the first shot. aka why scoped rifles have such an advantage over ironsights

Can't someone find someone that knows how much recoil the weapons have in real life? :p

The problem isn't that there's nobody who knows what recoil is like. The problem is converting a qualitative effect - how much recoil the soldier feels - to a quantitative one, a number that can be placed into the game code and converted to in-game recoil.

Im wondering wouldn't the iron sight have less muzzle climb(ingame I know it would be the same in real life) than the scoped ones? Cause the scoped has magnification and because of this smaller movements result in a bigger change of sight picture.
edit: ah you beat me clark, that's the best explanation for it.

I don't really care about the net recoil felt by weapons. I was just wondering why it would be different when you add a scope to it.

Really the muzzle climb would appear to be more because it magnifies it. But the recoil would be the same. Honestly speaking, my dad's talked to nuts who have shot M16s off their groins O_O appearently it has that little recoil, and I've shot a civilian style M4, the muzzle climb isn't as much as it is in game I thought

The recoil for scoped weapons was reduced (IIRC its 1.0 for iron sights and 0.4 for scoped) because the players are a bunch of winey ******* who moan when they can't WTFBBQPWN with their scoped rifles because the movement (which is exageratted when using the scope) was too great when the scoped version is set to 1.0

There is no basis in reality for this difference. Its purely gameplay based.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Yeah forget gameplay, if thats the consequence of using scopes, than so be it, can't hit anything on burst as it is so it doesn't matter

I wish I knew who these players were, as I could use some tips.... I have plenty of stuff to piss and moan about!

But seriously, it's messed up.

i personaly think its realistic that the recoil is larger when you are in scoped mode. because when you are in scope mode little movements seem to be larger because of the zoom. its just like you use binoculars, little movment, great movement in the binoculars beacause of the zoom. but nevertheless there arent realy many people in pr who really know something about real weapons and shooting....

yeah but this would make some ppl take another kit instead of scoped rifles.
i would like to see alot harder playing with scoped rifles cause the normal iron sights are totally useless against a scoped riifleman.
the opposite would be fair .
more recoil to scopes and less to iron sights

Guys, The 0.6 Scoped recoil was not fine. In real life you can quickly go back to your old position, while in game you would have to move your mouse 2-3 times down your desk. Changing settings would result into a too sensitive mouse for other things, and some people don't have those fancy in-game mouse sensitivity switching. If you would fire burst on that thing you'd almost point to the sun..

Why not lower the recoil on the ironsighted weapons? Ive fired an M4 before and the recoil wasn't that bad to be honest, the ingame stuff feels like a 8 gauge shotgun

To be honest, I like how the guns are currently handling (with of course the slight changes coming in the patch taken into account). I finally feel that the M16 is up to snuff.
