This is kinda following on from one of those multi-idea/observation threads but thought it was worth mentioning in a separate thread to keep things clear.
Anyway, as most of us have seen, people often seem to have reckless disregard for their teams supply trucks. Sometimes you might want to genuinely look after it but the results the same, supply trucks f$£"%king everywhere.
So might it be better to separate the 2 and have a supply truck AND transport truck for each army? Then we can ditch the back seats for some nice models of sandbags concrete blocks and ammo and have 2 seats in the front and that's that.
Obviously this would require extra modelling (don't wanna turn this into a give us more stuff in game now thread) which would take time from things probably more important. But there's nowt worse then not being able to build a much needed asset.
Another problem would be a potential lack of people willing to drive the things and perhaps resulting in the commander having to drive the thing everywhere and it working on a de facto .6 basis. Something needs to be done none the less.

I still say the choppers should have a "Build crate" and an "ammo crate" to drop off (trucks as well). Take trucks out of the building equation, requiring the build crate for conventional forces' buildings, and requiring nothing at all for Militia.

Still want supply truck(Possibly a different mechanism) though.Expendable Grunt wrote:I still say the choppers should have a "Build crate" and an "ammo crate" to drop off (trucks as well). For simplicity sake, I'd just let the "supply crate" function as a construction tool and an ammunition holder. It would be interesting because a supply truck would now be capable of driving up to a position, dropping it's crate and then moving on, but allowing a nearby squad to build a CO asset. Even more interesting with the chopper.Expendable Grunt wrote:I still say the choppers should have a "Build crate" and an "ammo crate" to drop off (trucks as well). Anyhow, don't entirely agree with the OP. Many times you want to be able to take your whole squad with you in the supply truck (You need those shovels after all). I think the fact that engineers and officers can only drive them is a good enough limit.
And besides, such vehicles IRL can be used for troop transport if there was a need for it. Nothing wrong with using the trucks this way in game. As far as taxing goes, it's just something we have to live with due to the nature of pub players.

I am pretty sure the supply trucks being transports is largely a place holder for the upcoming realistic vod and humvee. The same maps also have APC's but nobody uses them for transport for some reason.

So then a Supply Truck that is loaded up in the back with stuff and maybe even a mounted crane in back. Looking somewhat like a tow truck for Semi-Trucks.
Then a Transport Vehicle that can still drop off supply crates but is mainly a transport vehicle.
You need the supply truck to build assets and you use the transport truck for .. well.. transporting troops.

The soldiers sit inside the equipment, duh!AnRK wrote:From a semi-realism slant there's no way you'd get building equipment AND a whole squad of troops in the back anyway.
