Second, i can tell you all that **** right now, and I'm telling you that it doesn't matter. If the US and Britain were fighting in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, etc, then I guarantee that those countries will fight back to defend themselves. By your logic, because they have religious differences (religious differences that still put them in the same boat against Israel, a point which you conveniently leave out), they would not defend their own countries against an invading force. This makes no sense, considering if the United States went to war with Mexico and Canada, both Mexico and Canada would be against the US.

And I would hardly call an air of superiority friendly and respectful, so follow your own suggestion.
1. Language does matter. The UK Forces don't communicate in Gaelic or other accents, because there's one central language, English.
2. US attacked Iraq, any helpers? The only coalitions that would be possible would whether be Persian or Arab. Not both together.
3. The DEVs already said that they don't want a story line..

1) No it doesn't. In the tournament, the NATO team doesn't speak 20 different languages, it uses one to represent them.

2) In PR, the middle eastern maps are in several countries, not just Iraq. The point being that if several places were invaded during the same conflict, they would all fight back against the invaders and likely join sides for the remainder of the war.

3) what does that have to do with my post?

That would be a cool addition to the mod, have some non-clone voices. Sounds like star wars attack of the clones out there sometimes.

1) The PRT is an organisation that deals with a GAME that people in mostly stable countries participate in, there would be no reason for conflict on a base of language because most the countries people are from in the tourny are on pretty good terms. Plus it's mostly nerdy people that spend too much time playing computer games like me that are in it and don't have that much aggression in them anyway (apart from the rivalry between NATO and CATA at times).

Very different to 2 languages that represent centuries of bitter conflict and major cultural differences. Sure alot of Muslims are very peaceful people, and people from different sects of Islam will get along. But in a context of taking things very literally and very seriously, to the extent of not wanting anything to do with the other, it's very different especially when nation states are involved to incite patriotism in the states ideals.

2) There are plenty of areas in the world where mass invasion of a region has occurred and this hasn't happened at all. For example when the Europeans colonised the Americas, native American tribes and societies didn't all suddenly set apart their differences and fight together, from what I've heard tensions even grew between some.

This is indeed a silly thread.

Slightly off-topic but kind of on, does anyone know if there are any MEC vs. Insurgents/Militia maps planned?

IMHO If there was ever such a thing as the MEC they would have a wealth of power in the world. The Middle East has been for years, and still is the largest exporter of Oil in the world. If they chose a side the other nations would have to skim fuel costs and find other ways to get fresh oil and other fuels too the front lines of a war with them. On top of that the MEC would also be able to get their hands on just about anything they wanted and develop all the weapons, and vehicles they could ever need to wage war. Plus they would have a vary large amount of people to place in their military. Think about Iraq alone has enough people who are willing to lay down their lives for almost any reason and go to war over it, if you factor in Iran, Israel, and the other nations as well you would then have a land army that numbers not in the mere thousands, but in millions! The US, and GB would have no choice but to band together, as well as Russia, China, and Korea would all be vary happy to make friends with this new super power.

Most likely they would also find a way to enlist Egypt as well. We all know how in the 6 day war Egypt found the perfect way to make a net to keep fighters grounded for hours on end. If you factor in the vehicles and the combined might of each nation in the MEC both Egypt, Israel, and Iran stand out as major military powers, so they would supply the main bulk of not only troops, but also heavy vehicles, and weapons, places like Iraq, and Afghanistan would also bring a wealth of oil, huge weapons caches, and of course even more people into the fight, as well as a major wealth of knowledge of how to defend strong points, and wage War with small numbers of people, and low tech weapons.

Most likely the MEC Special Forces would be made up of War Lord leaders, and Insurgent specialists from Iraq, Afghanistan, and of course other non military powers in the middle east. They would be perfect for the job as well, they have a mastery of how to attack a target in large numbers and then fade away into under ground tunnels, and sewer systems of a city in mere seconds. They would also be perfect for ambushes, and raiding parties to keep the enemy off balance and of guard. The Military powers would bring to the table a major organized force. Israel would have the tech to keep on equal footing with the more modern nations like the US,GB, and France, while Iran, and Egypt would bring huge numbers of cheap easy to use tanks, aircraft, and of course a wealth of imported weapons, and light vehicles both advanced and perfect for attacking on the desert terrain which is mostly soft sand that would make heavy tanks sink under their own weight.

IMHO you would have an army, and a super power that could deal with almost any logistical problem out there in the world. But thats MHO.

Okay... Israel, Iran, Egypt, Iraq and Afghanistan would never be fighting along side each other. Especially Israel... the middle-east hates that country, most of them don't even acknowledge it's existence. You mention the six-day war, that whole conflict was started by an alliance of Arabic nations bent on the annihilation of Israel.

We've already mentioned the unlikely prospect of Iran working with an Arabic nation. And considering that the MEC speak Arabic, it sort of implies that Iran may not be part of the MEC (at least not willingly).

I can't see Iraq and/or Afghanistan working against the allied forces considering that we've already got troops in each country.

__________

If anything, my story would be that the MEC are originally a band of Arabic nations, possibly under a supranational (See Also) government. After building up a economy, military, industry etc. Some corrupt, fanatical, madmen end up with control of the military, and turn the whole thing into totalitarian government (Coup/Revolution). Then they go all Jihad on Israel and other NATO/ISAF/Western occupied/influenced middle-east nations (Iraq & Afghanistan). There's your ultimate WW3 scenario.

Since the turks just went hunting PKK cells I think its not a bad idea to have some MEC vs insurgent maps.

Then it is supposed to be Turkish Army vs. Insurgents! Turkish people dont talk Arabic... The MEC is a highly unrealistic faction imo!

There's alot of Islamic nations that have a problem with terrorists, well actually due to the variety of these groups' ideologies and methods all of them are bound to have terrorists cells they aren't fans of.

Can't we put this one to bed yet lads? :p

*Sigh* Yeaaaah... it's just this one is so... futile I guess... I mean, it's a discussion about a fictional nation in a video game created by people who most people in this thread would call idios anyway. I mean, if you can't trust DICE and EA to develop a game that isn't hideously crippled by every patch they release - and making games is their core business, remember - how on earth does anyone expect them to come up with a believeable faction based on political, economical and religious reality?! :p

Seriously. I didn't care much for the vBF2 because there was no real story going on.

So why does PR use the MEC faction? If the goal is realism, why not turn it into Saudi Arabia or Iran or some other middle eastern power?

Are you guys just afraid of offending people?

Because MEC has more possibilities than Saudi Arabia. And Iran is not arab so please stop suggesting that. It annoys the hell out of us arabs when you get us mixed with persians and turks.

Who's suggesting that Iran is Arab? I just said why not turn "MEC into an Iranian faction?" What does that have to do with Arabs?

Just FYI, while Iran isn't in the Arabian peninsula, it is in the 'middle east.'
