How is damage calculated? Is it a straight "this material X was hit by projectile Y so damage Z is inflicted"?

Seems weird that the easiest part to hit is the weakest.
Also, why is the base of the barrel apparently "cloth"?

I know theres a lot "hard" material in strange places on CR2, for example tanks
- well, at least I heard that somewhere
So how is it trully in BF2? Does it depend on material the projectile is hitting or hit points of that material/object. Cause I still dont get it... maybe its food poisoning... gonna read this again later ;P
Also off topic slightly... is it just me or... whenever I see this thread title Im reading it Scimitar girls... probably another problem of mine though... ;P

Just noticed this thread again, nice post there SleepyHe4d, my post (if it was directed at me) was as a Military advisor, so he could - for reference - see how it works in Rl - hence the beginning of my post stated "In RL" !!!
I actually do know how to read funnily enough, 17 years in the British Army(so far) and 2 A levels - kinda taught me.
Now I am not gonna post anything I shouldn't here, so I will say one thing - and please "read it" ......
If you have a problem with my posts please pm me, and we will sort this out in private ?
Thank you.

I think it might make a difference because there is certainly a difference in tank armour placement
But maybe the point is apc have little armour either way so wherever you hit it with an rpg its going to be in alot of trouble
Ive noticed sometimes 1 rpg will set the APC on fire and sometimes it can hobble away so that is a difference. Hopefully the cage would allow the hobble situation
