PR Hacker situation

Post by Razick »

So what are the details? I found out in the PRT forums and I didnt belive them until I saw the "bf2hacks.net" header. Then the site was down or something for a couple of hours. Anyone care to elaborate?

Did they kick his *** or what? I would as I bet this caused some headaches; I know I would whoop some *** if they gave me a migraines.

and after that in a couple of hours , the site went down ! nothing was available and apparently the site admins shut it down to stop any further **** from that guy ! and to solve the problem faster.

Engineer wrote:I am waiting an explanation about the situation as well, but I suppose it will come eventually.

I am interested of:
- How did it happen
- Why it was possible
- Are our user accounts/passwords compromised
- What kind of countermeasures are board administrators taking to prevent such happening again.
- How did it happen?
the hacker hacked one of the admins password and messed up the forums.
- Why it was possible?
maybe that admin had a hole in his security messures , for example !
he opened his account at a someone's house and loged out but the password was recovered and viola .
- Are our user accounts/passwords compromised?
i dont think so , the admin panel has a list of all the accounts but they only can send u the password and username if u requested that . so ur safe , and plus they tend to care more for the higher privileges accounts  .

- What kind of countermeasures are board administrators taking to prevent such happening again.

im sure they did , and wont tell . if they did , the hackers will know how they sealed the website and will find a way around that and hack it again .

hope i answered ur questions correctly .

We are looking into this situation at the moment, the MDK Hackers are presumed responsible, but we are currently investigating this further, please bear with us.

Guys, it's really not that important. They're just a couple pissants, not some great enemy.

I still advocate kicking in his door.

But seriously, it's not a big deal. **** happens, the DEVs and MODs dealt with it efficiently, and now the forums are back. Props to them.

Im sorry, but gaining unauthorised access to someone elses webspace by dodgy means then defacing it IS a big deal. Personally if they did it to my websites i would go on a crusade to crush them.

Your sort of attitude IMHO just lets them get away with it leaving them to think they are free to do it again with no comeback.

*cough*

Well, hacking into someone else's site should be against law, shouldnt it? Maybe we are very very lucky and its even possible to do something against those *******..

Create a proxy website and whenever they log in with the old password it sends them the LuvBug virus. I have it on a diskette. :D

Well ya it is against the law to hack Certified Websites !! and The Pr Team Has Everything Legally Done . But Remember Using Force Is Not Always The Best Option !
The Site Admins Can Increase The Security Measures For The Admin Panel And Change Passwords And Check The Logs For Anything Out Of The Usual

The good thing is that its back ! and its up and running , if those guys come again , we will kick *** then :D

Are you saying we SHOULDN'T kick down his door?

Seriously though, it's the MODs/DEVs problem for now, I'm sure they will let us know the deal when it's clearer.
