Commander/SL & kit limiting

Post by Alex123 »

Would it be possible to let the Commander or Squad Leader decide who gets what kind of kit? I think this would be helpfull in getting some organized play into the game. Moreso prevent idi*** get pilot kits and take something flyable.
Yesterday another horror story on Al Basrah. Guy asking the whole round when the damn Merlin is gonna spawn. We were fighting dut due to mishaps we could only spawn back at the main base. I see mr. "TopGun" running towards the chopper and getting it. Chopper is fully loaded. At take-off he bumps into the hangers and I had the feeling that he ain't gonna last 3 minutes. I hear the chopper sound, flying away and suddenly silence.......... in under 1 minute. Mind you, this is on Al Basrah. There are no trees in that area. But I think he just crashed, well I'll never know what horror took place there for the passengers.

Anyway, this would be one reason for it. Moreso the commander, that is or should be the mastermind behind all actions could assign an armor squad, or set-up a storming squad, or a heavy weapons squad (AT, machine guns, (mortars, anyone?)). Thus giving every squad a purpose, instead of letting them all do a little this and that, but not be excelling at anything.

Well, would something like this be possible, have a guy in charge and hand out or grant "rights" to others to get one of the "important" kits and would it be a welcome addition?

we dont want to limit players too much, the best idea is if you want your memebers with selective kits, and they dont do what you say, kick them out the squad, then invite a new guy in, simple.

Yes. Has already been suggested and I think it's a very, very, very bad idea. I would not play a game that limits my playing options.

Well ok, it may not be a wise idea to give a commander full control over how you should play the game. Admitted it would be frustrating if I could not fullfill my playing in a way I want at that moment after a day of hard work or so.

How about an opt-in idea, in which you can join an adequately named, commander created and partially controlled (kits etc.) squad, or do something else if you wish. People that join these squads get double points for team spirit :)

Now its like all squads run around and mind their own business. It would be nice to be able to rely on other squads as you can rely on your squadmates in a proper squad.

However, the issue with high value assets still remains. "Rambo" or "TopGun" comes in, takes a very important asset (chopper, plane, tank, APC, IFV etc) and has some fun for 30 seconds at the expense of the teams overall effort.
