i dont know about you but just for the sake of getting rid of the insurgents who use the bikes to ride up to any vehicle and have the codriver drop and detonate the IED, cant we just place a wait period similar to the c4? Or no?

I'd like it if there was a slight delay between click and detonation, just a fraction of a second. The insurgent would hear the "sending" tone on his phone during that time (when its done) and the poor guy next to the IED would hear it ring just before detonation.
That'd be lulzy and maybe more realistic?

I agree....
Having at least a few seconds would also keep ambushers from blowing themselves up if it is the second IED being dropped.
I have notice that sometimes I get the "automatic switch" between IED and remote detonator....causing me to blow myself up.
Although....this could be by design.
Since most insurgents probably wouldnt have formal explosives training....it is logical that a few of them have blown themselves up while "tinkering".

Not sure what you are talking about as far as "unrealistic" as far as the timer goes.SleepyHe4d wrote:Actually the C4 shouldn't have any timer and the IEDs should have like a 20 second timer. Why the hell did they set it up the opposite? It makes for the most unrealistic experiences in the damn mod.![]()
It was my understanding that the purpose of the 5 second wait was to compesate for the bug that caused people to prematurely blow their C4 before they had deliberately selected their detonator.

I always thought that the 5 second timer was to simulate actually "setting up" the C4.RCMoonPie wrote: It was my understanding that the purpose of the 5 second wait was to compesate for the bug that caused people to prematurely blow their C4 before they had deliberately selected their detonator.

I'm relatively sure that the C4 timer is meant to keep people from suiciding it on tanks and such, and to make engineer rushes a bit harder. If you try and blow your C4 in the first 5 seconds (perhaps by double-tapping the left mouse button when you set it), it simply becomes non-operative, meaning it fixes nothing there. I guess it could be for setting up, but you can easily be 30 or 40 meters away in 5 seconds, so that doesn't seem likely.
As far as giving ambushers the delay on their IEDs, it would stop things like suicide bombing etc, which is what makes the insurgent team different. They're supposed to run out and kill themselves to take out the challenger. Regular armies are not.

You're both wrong. The C4 delay time is to stop me in my tracks.
