Accuracy with ironsights on and off

Post by AssaulterX »

I dunno if this exactly has bn mentioned (yeah i used the search) but i'd like the guns accuracy when the sights are off much lower, to have a reason to use the ironsights actually, coz i've no problem to imagine a crosshair in the middle of the screen and shoot as accurately as with the ironsights. The only weapon that seems to work the way i want is the support guy's machine gun. Otherwise everything else has bn said.

Thx 4 any reply. This mod is the best.

100% agree on this one

Yep, defo. Particularly with Weapons like the SAW, this has to be implemented if you want any sort of balance.

Yup, I agree aswell. Last night I was playing and got bored and went rambo and killed a few guys in 3 burst without ironsights just running around. So to keep more rambos make it less accurate from the hip.

If you think about it. When you put a gun to your hip it doesn't mean its going to be that much less accurate. It's just hard to find the point in where your actually firing at.

True, technically the best simulation of an aiming system that ever found in a game was an old mod from UT called infiltration. The easiest way to describe it was think of OFP with an invisable crosshair.

You could aim from the hip, but because without the aid of that crosshair (which wasn't fixed to the center of the screen) the only visual reference you had from the hip was that the 3d model of the gun would track Left/right/up/down with where that invisable cross hair was placed. There was no "cone" the bullet always fired straight and true from the barrel of the virtual gun, the difficulty was that without actually looking down the sights you could only make a guess as to what it was pointed at. Was quite literally the best you could probably do to simulating shooting with a gun without having a gamer have to go out and get a light gun.

I Agree totally with this, been meaning to write about this myself but gladly someone else was able to put in words what I've also been thinking of.

As I understand at the moment you could for example mark a dot in the middle of your monitor screen and use that as an "Aimpoint", never having the need to use the old iron sights.

By having the shots spread out wide when "firing from the hip" this could be easily taken care of.

Realism baby!

Interesting you mention the dot I have on my screen. Put it there after the demo came out so I could guide AT rockets on the move.

Defkon: HOLY **** and oldschool INF player!! I went by LordPerrin in INF and played for about 4 years, as well as being a bit of a forum whore. As to your comment, YES!!!!! the free floating weapon made all the difference.
