right. no explanation in manual, nothing in forums, and nothing in the wiki guide

not the "big bomb" the SAT guided airstrike. the manual says that these coordinates can be targeted by planes

so, how are they placed, who places them, and what else do I need to know to be able to perform an SAT guided airstrike?

I dont think there is a minimum range, as I was once able to a target about 10 feet away from me (it wasn't really a target, just a test for the laser) and the SU-25 fired its missile and killed me and about 3-5 other people

He made another thread about the jets Jdams, I think he means the commanders Jdam. Squad leader has to request it and then the commander can accept. :p

Ohhh wait I know what he means, cause when you target the commanders Jdam you can drop the jets Jdams on the target too. That's all it is, kind of useless.

As far as I can tell, he's talking about this thing I read that the Commander can place a mark on the ground, which can then be attacked by laser-guided munitions.

CAS and target coordinates

Post by thepalerider »

* Commanders designate an icon on the map that needs 'Close Air Support'. This is marked as Yellow cross hairs and alerts all aircraft that this area needs help and is used as a navigation aid for aircraft.Lasts 1 minute
* Commanders can now place a laser target on the map, which is "target coordinates" marker in red cross hairs. Lasts 30 sec.
* Squad Leaders can designate Close Air Support, however it needs to be accepted by the Commander as a valid target area before aircraft can see it.Lasts 1 minute(note this not a laser target, it's a navigation aid.)
Squad Leaders and speck ops must designate laser target with the SOFLAM using left mouse click . Lasts 15 seconds. Using the rose "setting target now" only radios for all to hear it.
Squad Leaders can designate area attack marker in red(for jdam), however it needs to be accepted by the Commander as a valid target for the jdam. You hear Him call "fox one" when he does so. Jdam hits 60 seconds later
Remember jdams only come up once an hour so allways check where the squad leader asked for it. If the placement is bad ask for a new one.
