Did you patch to 1.2? There's hope!
Alright guys,
If you're like me, and have patched to 1.2 either out of necessity, or because you were unaware of the problems caused by it, there is hope. As you all know, anyone with the 1.2 patch cannot play PRMM, so us guys at iKill have come up with a temporary solution for players not willing to play on Vanilla BF2 servers. The awnser quick and summed up is: Server-Side mods.
Although not nearly as good as PRMM, we have managed to mod a server to emulate Reality Mod, complete with AAS, No or delayed vehicles, and most of all, good teamwork! We're planning on keeping this server up until the .25 hotfix comes out, because, as we all know, playing Vanilla BF2 sucks!
The server is open to any players who want to join. It is located in Houston, TX, and has 0 downtime, and 0 lag. We also have a TeamSpeak server if VOIP ain't your thing.
Full List of Changes: All players must join squads; AAS system has been enabled; All tanks, APCs, and Helis have their spawn time at 10 mins; All light transports have their spawn time at 5 mins; Commander is deactivated, no arty!; Hit indicator removed; External views removed; Spawn time at 40 secs, so conserve your lives; Players in vehicles must join a squad corresponding to that vehicle (Pilots in a Pilot squad, tankers in a Tank squad, etc.)
Best of all, it's actually playable for the guys with the 1.2 patch, who can't be arsed to deal with the **** in Vanilla BF2.

Meh, it was an issuie on our PRMM server whether or not to have tanks. I am not sure if you all know the way to fix PRMM with 1.2 but I do know away to fix it and revert your game to 1.12 if needed please just ask and ill retype it i have posted the way to fix it in the help forum.AznLB wrote:Alright guys,

Excellent! That's impressive. I'll probably drop by later if I can. 10 minutes is a bit long for non-reality modded vehicles, though. The normal bf2 tanks are too ineffective and easily killed by infantry for that. I think 5 would be more reasonable. Otherwise, everything sounds great.

lol, Tanks are too easily killed by infantry, haha.
It's harder to kill a tank is vanilla BF2 than it is in PRMM.
I know it's long, but it makes you value your tanks a little better, and when you kill a tank, you've actually accomplished something as it won't come back for a good while (Versus coming back 40 seconds later for more).

You clearly are not a tanker. I die so much more in normal BF2 than in PRMM. The reason is C4. I can dodge AT missiles pretty well, but those one-hit kills from the moronic spec ops guys running at me and blowing themselves to pieces is just unavoidable, especially with the way the MG can't kill them with less than 3 headshots.

I'll only drive a tank if it's needed, but I don't find it too hard to stay alive if you stay back and provide cover for your team like the tank is supposed to be doing.
Besides, C4 chucking is no longer possible in 1.2, so it's not too bad. Just stick with your team, you protect them, they protect you.
I know 10 mins is a long time, but it keeps it fair for everyone IMO, if infantry manages to kill a tank, then they have actually accomplished something: getting rid of the tank, rather than having the thing come back 1 min later to rape them again.
I was playing with a clan today on the server and they were raping us with the tanks and APCs, even with the long-*** spawn time, so if you're a good tanker you should be fine.
The server is empty right now, we had maybe 7 guys on earlier, not exactly the greatest turnout, but definetly better than Vanilla. The peak hours seem to be 6-11pm EST.

Dude, that's one badass AA.The ZSU-23-4 outclassed all NATO anti-aircraft guns at the time, and it is still regarded as posing a major threat for low-flying fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. It's effects have often been compared to those of a rotary saw.
