Anyone wireless?

Post by DrMcCleod »

Any of you chaps play over a home wireless connection?
Is it reliable? Any latency issues?

I use it occasionally

it is worse but not unplayable, it just has random lag spikes.

Someone please tell me that the above is irony.

Really depends on a number of things.. signal strength, router type etc. etc.. it can be 100% ok.. but it's not as reliable as wired. But I rarely notice any difference between wired & wireless.. (and that's through two floors)

Use wireless only if you really have to as it will let you down eventually.

I have a complete POS router and it works just fine. In fact, I've never played BF2 on a wired connection.

It works, but ive had three Wlan adapters now and two of them give me VERY occasional disconnects and the third always lags, but works perfectly for Downloads, surfing, etc.

My "cable" is a DLAN cable and that overheats after a while.

I've always had a wireless connection. Works alright, just crashes atleast once a week for 2 minutes.

Wireless works fine, but there is a good thread around here from bob_marley for improving performance.

Wired is superior in performance however.

I'm currently using wireless, same exact pings as wired. It helps that there's only a two layers of drywall, some insulation, and 20 feet of air between my router and my computer though.
