Whats the deal with Rhino was there a thread I should read with him and a useless poll?
Theres a poll I moved to the offtopic section with one response as Rhino being at fault. Oddly enough, or perhaps obviously, It has plenty of votes to keep it ahead of all other options ;)

If Polls are silly, can't the moderators lock/change the polls anyways without any modifications to the current poll system? Why make it through MOD approval only if the MOD already has the authority to lock down and close a poll that is moronic or one that he/she would not approve of? And like someone posted before, requesting MOD approval for every poll posted may lead to major spamming for the MODs

Yes as long as they are unbiased, clear, and based on sound logic.

Voted Yes

Polls are good, although some of them are quite silly or biased, but as far I can see R-MODs are taking care about them quite well so I don't see a reason for further constraining of public conversation in a place called "Forum"

I voted for "Yes, but only after we approve them". We can't be on guard 24/7, and if a bad one is going to be culled anyway, why not prevent it from causing trouble in the first place?

I voted "yes, with moderation" as well. Makes perfect sense.

Edit: atm there's alot of poll spammage. The people need moderation

Polls are OK as long as their selections are not biased.

Recently I saw way too many polls of a 'If you think something else then me then you're an idiot..." type. However, moderator's approval might be going too far.

They are useless.. or worse than that. They are so open to distortion & bias. Waste of space.

For example only 4 other people vote No with me.. what a joke, totally distorted!
The poll's options must of confused most of you. *wink *wink

Why not go a step further and need a moderator to approve each new thread , heck why not every new post ?

Frankly I prefer a system where people are free to post what they wish, but have to own up to it. Then a system where we need to pass through the "political correctness" bureau to get things approved

I don't know, it just feels a bit overkill considering the "problem".

Or at the least make it mandatory that each poll have a 'Rhino choice' in order to pass automatically :p

btw this threads title should be a bit clearer.

if you didnt want peoples opinions you shouldnt have asked.
Its pretty insulting, besides, we want to know each other's opinions, DEVS rarely voice their opinions and when they do, they are always critical because they are bored of seeing "reposts".

Geez, don't be such control freaks. Who cares if people want to make polls. Like I made a humorous one about the guy on the new login screen. Am I to understand that you guys wanna "crack down" on polls like that?

TBH, I stopped viewing these forums several months ago because of how lame they were getting (and I'm talking about cliques and just overall annoying people), and all I've been doing is checking the Clan section only. But then I viewed a couple of them (like general, etc) in the last week.

But stuff like this makes me want to stop viewing them again, since this is like a haven for yes men and *** kissers. What does a "stupid" poll do to you? For example, Imagine someone made a poll about adding Auto Fire on a gun that doesn't currently have one. I guess you guys would be all up in arms and wanting to censor it. But really, WHO CARES! If someone wants to make a stupid poll like that, then big deal. Instead of just allowing someone to say that and let it be pushed down the page due to uninterest, the bandwagon guys around here will reply with like 10 posts saying how the person is a noob and should stop playing PR and get away from our cliquey community because we all like realism and bounding and suppressive fire and blah blah blah.

Its not so much about controlling, its a lot about the fact that the forums have had a lot of recent polls that dont really need to be there. I could care less if people make them, but most times its like "Do you really think the DEVs will implement this radical awesome noob idea just because it got some votes?"

Polls to try and show support for silly things are just that. Silly. I could care less if you make them, but to me, it shows that you are looking for people to gather the support you are too lazy to compile yourself.

Its like saying "Whats so bad about resuggesting fastropes....again?" Well, in the end? Nothing. Theres nothing terribly awful about it, but it makes the forums look silly and full of sh*t we dont need....

Although, polls are different as they are based within each thread, but come on, we DONT need a poll for absolutely every thread :)

honestly though, youre getting really defensive when the first person to suggest MOD approval was a standard member ;) Votes are spread evenly, I doubt we'd do anything to change the current method as it is. This thread and the other similar thread seem to be more out of fun than people are putting into them...

Meh... polls here are mostly lame anyway, like the minimap one... Pshhhhh

as always, Masaq says things just how Id like to:
Project Reality Forums - View Single Post - Polls

MOD approved Polls would also ensure non-bias questions that are properly phrased and edited to actually make sense before people begin voting on something poorly worded.

Calm down, thats not all polls, but thats a fair amount that I have come across that I dont even understand what it is asking...

^^^ He's right. We have polls that are poorly worded attempts to gain popular support for ideas, or that include bias for the OP's suggestion/thoughts on the matter. All we want to do is make sure that when people post polls, they're polls that use english and not double-dutch as their primary language, and that allow a fair representation of opinions.

Do I want to see people's opinions of which jets handle the best? Yes, because that can be used to improve the gameplay of the mod.

Do I think a poll asking what a semi-focused figure is doing in a picture can be funny? Yes, I do.

Do I think that Requiem's bandwidth should be used by a plonker to ask the community if they think that R-PUBs, R-CONs and R-MODs should be elected from within the community?! (It's a real thread, honest - just search). Hell no!

"Did they say what he's angry about?" asked Annette Mitchell, 77, of the district, stranded after seeing a double feature of "Piranha 3D" and "The Last Exorcism." - Washington Post

Emnyron wrote:To put it this way, the intent is good, but once finaly approved, it will be missused, and it will only expand from that point on..
Then we will get that only verefied members can create threads, followed by mod approval only threads, and finaly, mod approved messages..

The snowball might seem small, but its message spells doom for a living comunity.
He's on to us! QUICK!

Guys if Emnyron dissappears from the forums... don't ask us MOD's... *whistles*

I think you're blowing it up into something a bit bigger than it really is... lol
