and yer, i really like the new suppression effect, ive been testin it on the public servers, and i can tell u it will make u keep ur head down when u are being suppressed, additionally that 30sec+ spawn time really doesnt make people value there virtual lives

Hat should never be that close and smoke at a distance doesnt lag as much afaik.
Go prone and shoot at your feet and it'll lag you, I get like 20 fps sometimes but shoot at a wall 6 feet away and it doesnt.
The older graphics cards may seriously suffer from this new surpression effect, I think it uses pixel shaders 1.4 alot.

LAG!!?? WHERE??? Never had any lag caused by effects. Guess someone's using too much AA & AF.
No its true, smoke particles and such like are a flaw of dx9. Like you say if you reduce resolution and AA then almost any card can cope but I much prefer high res and I think it helps with long distance shots where the guy is only 2 pixels big
When or if they make bf3 in dx10 only it should be fixed
I dont use AA or AF really, I would as I get 100fps mostly but fools road and ejod suffer from 30fps so I need to drop it for those situations. I dont know if the surpression will lag, just wondering how much additional load it will bring in or will it just be the same fps as present lower key fuzzy effects.

Watching a video and experiencing it in-game is different mate.

its not meant to make u scared, u cant be scared, its a game. instead it makes the desired effect of not being able to return accurate fire.
I'd also say that before anyone can really appreciate this, they're going to need to play with it.
Trust me, when the rounds start hitting the dirt next to you it's going to make you look for cover. It just does.
Firing back is the last thing a supressed guy starts doing with this shader on.

SWEET! Sounds fantastic.
@Mora: As far as vehicle stabilization goes, I'm very much hoping for it in 0.8. I don't think the DEV team is at all interested in implementing a realistic rarden though.
