Laser beam like tracers

Post by MrD »

Now, how many times have you looked at the tracers ingame and didn't know whether to think if they were too large or not?

http://www.operations.mod.uk/video/AlWakiFirefight.mov

That is an official british army video of a small firefight that will give you some side on view of machine gun tracers that might just make you stop and think again about whether you felt they were too long.

(unfortunately, this video might only work within the UK so need some feedback here!)

Works fine in the US.

I don't understand how people could not know that they appear quite long. Seriously, we've been televising war for more than 15 years, watch your TVs folks!

Working fine in Sweden. And since that's realistic tracers from reality, they should look like that in the mod too. ;)

Nice video Mr.D.... There are three factors in the laser effect for light and heavy armor. 1.) Increased heat dispersion and chemical compound used in making the munitions, ie.. different compund mixture causes either red, green etc.. tracers used for identification in the field. 2) Munitions Velocity... the higher the velocity, the longer the laser line effect. 3) Munitions size... The larger the munition, the larger the laser circumfrance,. So, all these factors are reason it looks like your getting shot at with laser lightpoles at times. The laser effect in PR is very realistic IMO.

dont forget the frames per second of the footage, can affect the visuals vs. real thing/being there.
