7.62x51mm recoil, the G3, and how MEC can do room-to-room better.
Answer is simple: Crewman.
Sure, it might be a bit cheesy, but it works. The tiny recoil from the 9mm, even on full auto, makes it generally more useful than the G3, though the G3 isn't so bad in numbers.
I tried it on Kashan, and it's very useful in the bunkers, and in the villages.

The idea with rifleman ironsights having the MP5 isnt even that bad. Then the MEC would have one class that sucks at range but is useful in CQB, and another class being almost a marksman but bad at CQB. Since the MEC is fictional and the G3A3 ironsights would still stay in the game for the other classes, i think it wouldnt be that bad. Or maybe give it to the engineer. Shotgun and MP5. Door breaching and room clearing / self defence.
However, i just love the MP5's handling. It may not be powerful, but you can empty a mag into someones chest in a few seconds, thats lethal enough.

A couple of us had originally suggested that the MEC drop their Spec Ops (back when it was spawnable) for the "Pointman" kit with HK53A3 instead of G3.

But the HK53 would be a bit uber i think. Then they have a med renge rifle and a long range rifle. I mean, we know that the MP5 works well in CQB and but is really useless at range. The more i think about it, Engineer with MP5 would really make sense as door breacher and room clearer. If the engineer is not going to fight, the MP5 still is good for self defence.
Or maybe i'm just in love with the recoil and handling of that thing

In the bunkers? The range of the explosion isnt always big enough. and if you defend? However, many people are requesting crewman kits for the SMG, a place of this in the main kits (where ever) could work, perhaps. Sadly thats too unrealistic for PR i'm afraid...

This seems realistic becuase the when the British used the SLR (7.62mm rifle) they also used the Sterling 9mm submachine gun.
They stopped using the Sterling when they switched to 5.56mm, therefore equipping the MEC with a 9mm submachine gun would be realistic to the extent that British did it and i am sure numerous other countries that previously used the 7.62.

I really dont get why they dont make the ironsighted Rfileman kit a kit with an ironsighted Carbine sighted for 100m. Would sure be more effective (and realistic for C.Q.C duties). GO SCAR C.Q.C.!!!!

He is right about one thing, the recoil, but crewman only has 1+2 magazines, no frags, one smoke, no extra ammo, aka not ment for infantry combat!
I think the PR team should come up with an alternative weapon for QCB when it comes to MEC, something like the Hk53, HK 416, or Mp5

"Khaybar KH 2002 assault rifle is a recent development of the Iranian Defense Industry Organization; this rifle was first shown in 2004 and is intended to replace the obsolete 7.62x51 HK G3 rifles of German origin, which are license-built in Iran since the Shah times. Khaybar KH 2002 assault rifle can be best described as a bullpup conversion of the Iranian S-5.56 rifle, which is a direct copy of the Chinese CQ assault rifle."

Meh, i find the G3 more efficient at room clearing anyway. Seenms like you need less prayin when your sprayin with 7.62.
