Ok just got back from Ranges so will try to reply to some of the "issues":
I personally think that we have kept things quite simple - having had some experience in arranging matches myself I do not think there will be any major problems, thanks for the comments though - we will see.
Reserve Soldiers, these are essential in any tournament due to timezones and real life etc etc. To have 15 - 20 players on your books in a squad is a great asset, and I am sure Squad leaders can manage to get 6 men running throughout the battle, if thats the case.
TS for organisation only ........ why?
TS or Ventrillo in tournaments or clan battles is the normal, and I have never known there be a problem. there are a number of reasons why I have chosen this way:
1. If the Commanders/Squad Leaders game goes down - they will not lose comms - so can maintain comms while resolving the problem (has happened to me before). A commander if he has his strat and is getting "sitreps" from his squad leader can still run things to some extent.
2. If the server crashes etc, then we will ALL lose ALL comms, and trying to get 56 people back online and in -game with NO comms would be a nightmare.
3. Having a TS Tournament Server gives teams a tool to get together at any time and "brainstorm", or simply have a chat and a bit of a laugh, and also gives the oppurtunity to get your team online "comms check" done - well in advance of the Battle start.
Clan Sticking
Seems to be getting a bit of a debate here on this, Ok I do not intend for clans to get together and stick in squads. The whole concept of this Tournament is:
1. Fun
2. Passing around the experience to create an overall better quality "PR Player Base"
3. Involving the whole community
However if 2 or 3 guys want to play together - why should I say no, as long as it is not a whole squad they take over ........... "fun" is the word, and friends like playing together ....... lol (dont take it the wrong way-just read that back)
Infantry Only Maps
The tournament will NOT be Infantry only .......... that word again "fun", we will have a good mix of maps throughout - of course a few will be Infantry only.
A good Army should be able to adapt to any enviroment IMO, and I have to agree with Beck on this
Using/Planning/Coordinating an all assets attack to me really proves teamwork. There is nothing better than seeing armour in an attacking formation moving in with infantry behind - whilst a spec ops helo - HALO drop is going in,along with CAS to support (no Dedmon I am not giving away any tactics there ....lol). But seriously, there are plenty of guys out there that are "pilots" / "tankers" / Helo Pilots etc etc --- why should they lose out ?
I reckon that answers most questions for now guys ?
Finally - the final touches are being applied to the forum now (Commanders getting ready to accept you with open arms !!), and to that end we will be open for Business tommorrow night at APPRROX 2200 GMT. The Forum Link will be posted on my first Post (the main advert/announcement)
Catch you all on there tommorrow !!
One last thing ........... ARRC "Train Hard - Fight Easy"
BRING IT - EJOD
(The ARRC Psyops Campaign has started)
