Spawning?
I know that there have been a couple of suggestions made about removing spawning, changing spawn timers, etc. I'd like to have a decisive discussion on it.
In my view, there are a couple ways to do things.
1. No spawns: The benifits of this are that its the most realistic way to do things. On the downside, it means that if you die, you'll probably be dead for quite a while. Alot of people won't like this at all, and in all honesty it will probably limit your fanbase because of it.
2. Wave Respawns: A-la current system in BF2, but with an increased timer. I am very much for this method, but I have a suggestion:
3. Total-Assets wave respawns: Meaning that a team only has a limited number of reinforcements available for a map. This has my full on support. Limit each team to a certain number of total manpower, decided by the size of the conflict, or more likely a server setting.
In addition to this, maybe count vehicles into the assets category. Have a limited number of tanks/jeeps/aircraft per side.
Anyways, thats my view of the matter.

- no spawns is a bad idea. Makes the game too quick for eveyone else but me.
- wave respawns and total asset respawns don't work atm because of the ability for a team to spawn-camp or base camp way to easily.
The fact that spawn times on vehicles have been increased and the gloryhoundz lengthy respawn times for inf I think have made the game alot better already.

Wouldnt that actually improve the teams ability to break out? If only one guy spawns its easy to cut him down. If 10 guys spawn its not quite as easy.DEDMON5811 wrote:- wave respawns and total asset respawns don't work atm because of the ability for a team to spawn-camp or base camp way to easily.
Personally I still think one way of going towards a solution to the spawn situation is to simply remove most of the flag spawns. Limit it to 1 base and possibly 1 intermidiete base on the really big maps (like the center mound on Zatar 32p). Complete reliance on squad leaders instead. It wont be wave spawning, but it'll appear like it as you either spawn with a squad or at your base. If the squad leader dies, he have to begin from the start which is the simulated "wave".
This is incredibly easy to do and requires zero code implementation, as its just to remove the spawns in the server files.

i dunno about you, but the whole idea of ppl popping out of squad leader is ridiculous to me.
i liked the wave system, but what i am hoping is that instead of clueless troops being dropped into the map out of thin air, and often straight into the gun of a waiting enemy, it would be nice if the wave comes in the form of a safer mean. (i hoped for ages that we get the vehicle spawn system suggested in TF2 back ages ago, where we spawn in waves inside a transport vehicle and the vehicle brings u to the battlefield)

Ridicilus yes, but a way of making dense engagements on a large map.Zepheris Casull wrote:i dunno about you, but the whole idea of ppl popping out of squad leader is ridiculous to me.
In ideal conditions, two full squads would engage each other and one would win before people "popped" up around them.
It wouldnt hurt with a little limitation though: Cant spawn on the SL if enemies is within a certain distance (that goes quite a bit to prevent your popping depending on the range one choose).

Heh, he is just very goodWow, Dedmon getting cocky are we? Might wanna humble up or your fame might turn to shame. Just some friendly advice.
And i've been playing with him few times, he always play with squad and is very helpfull.. and as u can see he is funny too ;]
I like spawn as it is now.. maybe new spawnpoints and longer spawn times would be better... spawn not at flags/important points but near it.. to prevent spawn&death.... i love to spawn at the front of armor/apc.

Maybe you can't respawn until the last person in your squad is dead.
From time the 1st person in your squad is killed a squad respawn timer of X minutes counts down.
If all of the squad is killed before the time has counted down they will have to wait until the counter reaches 0.
If the last person is killed well after the counter has reached 0 the squad will respawn as soon as the last person dies.
This shift would place the emphasis on Squad scores (maintaining a high average and making sure you're efficient) over personal scores (which I would like to see dropped anyway).
It would also address the main issue I have with respawn games and that is it's hard to maintain squad tactics when you've got half the squad back at base and have to wait for them to return to the frontlines.
The problems are lone snipers who could stay alive undetected making the whole squad wait (maybe dropping the penalty for suiciding-call it retreat instead :O P) and flag captures . The capture time would need to be considerably quicker to account for open areas hard to hold with less people. (by less I mean the constant spawning from the Squad leader to overwhelm the enemy)

The problem with that is that then you're losing some of your will to live. I mean if the timer's up and 3/4 of your squad is dead, you're just going to do a suicide rush and bring back the other players.
Just something I thought of: A staggered respawn. Think about this: Wave respawns of 2 minutes, but staggered, so the USA spawns at 1 minute in, MEC spawns at 2, USA spawns again at 3... This would make for some pretty serious "hold out until reinforcements get here" moments.
As for applying the Total assets to vehicles, I'm not overly sure how to make this work, which is why I didn't mention it. With the 10 min timers on vehicles, you're defenitely going to have to take care of them. Unless we change that and find a better solution ( like what I couldn't say) I don't think we need to worry about it.
