It was a conscious decision not to go 3D with all rifle sights in Project Reality. All the Project Reality rifles have sights that line up though, so it's always possible.

I'm going to need Devs to decide whether they(you) want to stay with 2d sights, or use 3d. That is why I put it in the suggestions forum in the first place.

*Prays for the RIGHT answer*

(3d for irons, 2d for scopes)

Ease up, Mosquill - the DEVs have lives too y'know, and something like this they probably want to discuss between themselves before committing to anything. Give it a week or so and then start poking them with sticks.

3d irons look fantastic, they even have freaking shadows on them, plus you can see the bolt. now if it looks good on youtube, then it would look 100x better ingame so i dont see much reason not to go with 3d iron sights for all the weapons that have sights that would allow for this. i vote mosquill for person of the year!!!

We don't have a week. We're running out of time. I'm just trying to speed things up.

Thanks Zangoo. But there are reasons not to go with 3d. For example some weapons(like L85) have very low detailed sights that look just horrible. Also you can't make DOF(blur) effect with 3d.

Can you put a filter, like the supression shader, between you and the model? It might simulate DOF.

I'm sleepy right now so I can't really articulate.

You have plenty of time mate. Videos look great! I'd be all for it but I'd prefer to let Katarn be the decision maker.

Nothing? ôÔ
If that would be possible with 3D sights = win
(having that with 2D sights would be minor win, too)

hmm, using a shader seems possible, but i have no experience on that topic so take what i say with a grain of salt. this and having the blurr effect would make my day like 10x over.

Would it be too much to ask for a more realistic firing mode animation? Cause the AKs looks stupid, a flick of the thumb and your on auto, what balony.

Yep, on the part that our animation department is strained to breaking point.

Isn't that how it should be? What's wrong with it?

QFT

Especially considering we have plethora of new weaponry that's only not in game because of that very reason.
