Suggestion to the PR Admin team: Be Nice

Post by Stealth-Opertive »

Most of you admins on this forum are really mean.... when someone asks for example to put another vechle in a map (with a poll) you lock the damn thread.... why... what's the big deal... just leave it open so people can talk about it... and alot of the admins on this forum answer really rude to a question, like: Would you put a .... on ... map. answer: NO! (LOCK!!) those kinda things... i mean show some respect to the fans...

(No offence to the good PR guys... the ones that do answer in a good way)

Locked threads are usually re-suggestions (not for the first time). :)

Hey, we are not all monster's, so have a beer.

lol... seriously though, its not personal. The MOD do a great job to keep our forums free of rubish, profanity, and repetitiveness.

You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with banhammers. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Stealth Operative? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for locked threads and you curse the [R-MOD]s. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that the thread's deaths, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a banhammer and section 6 someone. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!

The mods here are very good at their job. I had a hard time administrating a few 6-player SWAT4-Coop servers already, moderating a forum like this with so many people deserves a bit respect i think. And when they lock a thread, they always, always do it friendy, even if it was about fastropes again.

Here, here!

lols, is there a way to moderate the usage of certain words? For example, if you type fastropes or the word rope & chopper/helo in the same post, you get redirected to the "already suggested suggestions" page?

the dev team only want to see suggestions that may be worth while. As there is so many re-suggestions about mainly things that aint possible (ie, fast ropes etc) they clutter up the suggestions forums making it really hard to find any new suggestions which are worth looking at.

The moderator team do a really good job of clearing out as much of the **** as possible that we (the dev team) really dont have time to read and dont want to read. I personally try to read as many suggestion topics as I can to see if theres anything good, if there is it normally gets posted on the dev forums for dessication with the other devs. Very little time we take little consideration into the replies to the topic as most of them are simply "nice idea, i want it too!" or something along thous lines which dont really help, thou some replies can be constructive its just a matter of wading though the topic..

When a topic is locked it signals to the devs that this topic is simply not worth reading as its a re-suggestion or something along thous lines which has been talked about and considered in depth before and we may have it planned for a later release you dont know that, for example we do have the C-130 on assets we would like to get into PR at some time but its so low priority that it will most likely never happen, but a new topic being posted about "you should make a C-130 cos its cool!" is really not going to change our minds about what we have already talked about before.

Hope that helps you understand.

Psh, is that a subtle and libelous slander of my MODing nature? BRING ME MY BANHAMMER, FOR I MUST SLAY HIM!

*Ahem*

I agree with what Bob was trying to say - it's easy to say "they're really rude and nasty, and lock threads and give people points" and such, until you actually do the job for a few weeks.

A while back, somebody suggested elections for [R-MOD] positions. You want to know why that wouldn't work? Because no matter how much fun and laughter you have with somebody, once they're a MOD, they're the ones responsible for telling you to go away and read the forum rules, or to stop posting re-suggestions, or to not insult other people.

Yeah, at times we can probably look like mean b****ds. I know for a fact *I* can, and I make no apologies for it - everybody has bad days, and there are days when you really, really really don't want to read a fastropes suggestion for the fiftieth time (or worse - people slagging the guy who posted the re-suggestion off).

If people here were always civil to each other, followed the rules and didn't resuggest things endlessly, we wouldn't warn people, ban them or lock their threads.

Until then, we will, because it's what stops these forums turning into /4chan/ or somethingawful.com.

It's the internetz. Someone's gotta be a ****, if only to keep all the other dicks in check.

TBH I've found the PR mods to be polite and logical 99% of the time. Which is significantly higher than the politeness of the average PRF member.

I am strict at times, but it is my job to keep you guys in line, and keep everyone happy. Whenever I lock something, I do my best to give a reason for it, and if that reason is not good enough, please do contest it. Just do it over the PM system, and dont disrespect the authority or be inpolite. We are here for free, and I think we have said it before that we are not the PR babysitters, and that should be understandable. We have ALL seen the rules page, and we have all checked off the little box that says I agree to these rules and conditions, and when you do, you fall within the jurisdiction of the forum police. Im not saying we are a force that should be bowed down to, but I do think we do deserve a little credit, and that you all should take a look and at least read the rules at least once. I would also like it if instead of ranting at our actions as a whole, that you do also view us as individuals and help us correct and improve our actions.

These things also get locked a lot, I know from experience. Just letting you know that we do care, and we do love our positions as moderators. We dont hate, and we hope you guys dont either.

Sincerly, and respectfully,

God forbid!, without your mighty hammer we would all be stuck in a paridoxical circute of the same thread over and over again, untill we are old and grey and die of old age and arthritis in our hands from typing so much about the same opinions over and over again!!!!!

I'm afraid your wrong dude, wrong wrong wrong.

You are basically replacing schoolyard bullies who say, stfu to those who request things. oh let me see, whats it called again...oh thats right...oppression.

Now you can close the topic, after you have given your long winded rant about how stupid and wrong i am, until it satisfies you, and you get bored and let it go.
