First and foremost, I did do a search, and if this has been suggested before, I apologize.

*ahem*

This came to mind earlier today, when I was using a bandage on Basrah. I thought to myself "the bandage is fine and dandy, but really, if I just got shot, aren't I still bleeding underneath? Less than before, but still hurt, and bleeding.

So, why not change things to make both the bandage more realistic AND force the medic to be a much more important role.

-Make the bandage slow down the rate of damage (or amount of damage, or both) due to bleeding, but not completely stop it (three bandages aren't going to completely patch up that hole in your torso). Therefore, if you're hit, that bandage will keep you alive longer, but you still need a medic or you WILL die eventually.

-Make a dedicated place inside a main base (tent, small building, whatnot) that an injured person can receive medical care, either as an area effect, or actually having that person enter the tent as if it were a vehicle (e to enter)

Getting shot already sucks enough, making it more complicated and difficult to heal to full would only ruin things for pubbers and create more trouble for tournament players.

i actually like this idea. the only thing is i think the rate of bleeding would need to be very low? like... 2ticks of life every 30secs- 1min

Actually, what I want is that you can only heal yourself so much (up to 80%)

Also, Bunkers/Firebases heal you too. Might as well, as you can just resupply field dressings from them...

Might as well put rally points in the mix...
as a side, might want to make Rally Point resupplies too...

I think the current system is just fine. The only persons that can fully heal themselves with field dressings are officers and spec ops, (well riflemen too, but it's faster to just find a medic) so if you want to be fully healed you are going to find a medic anyway.

similar stuff has been suggested before. And I don't see the point; if you are at the main base it's more than likely that you will find either a medic or some ammo. Also how many times do you actually get injured close to the mainbase?

People have also suggested that you could deploy this kind of medical tent next to a bunker/firebase. Again, don't see the point since both bunkers and firebases work both as spawn and resupply points. If a medic doesn't spawn there (a lot of them do) then you will still be able to heal yourself by getting ammo from the bunker/firebase.

although the tent idea is a resuggestion, i'd still like it to be featured. The extraction of wounded to forward casualty reception areas is about as realistic as it comes.

dare I mention medics should get a dedicated vehicle...an ambulance per se?

In any case the bandage idea is excellent.

No point in my opinion. If I would need to wait for medevac then be healed in main or another far place I would prefer to fight and die while bleeding and then respawn 30 seconds later close to battle at my rally point.

It would be nice only if you would have lets say 5 lives per game. You are bleeding, get a medevac and get healed at main or you will have 1 life less.

The idea with the 5 lives sounds like the whole battlefield thing in getting more like counterstrike or something.

If you let everyone have limited lifes the whole teamplay thing falls apart as soon as a few players are completely dead.

The idea of the battlefield game has always been that those casulties are balanced throu the tickets. I think it´s just fine like that.

true. If the spawn time was increased to.. say 3-5 minutes, then having proper medevacs would be usefull.

Everything that makes a medic mandatory has my full approval. The dilemma i often face is that noone wants to be sl, so they leave and reenter the sq all the time. So i have to be sl, but noone does medic, so i sometimes rly end up spawning as medic and taking office kit as soon as i need it.

Quoted for obvious truth. The only way a medic base/tent/whatever would become useful is if spawn time goes into the 5min+ range.

I'd make bandages stop bleeding altogether and give no health. That way, it simulates the probability of body armor stopping a bullet more accurately. Throwing a bandage on yourself isn't going to make your armor stop a higher percentage of bullets.

How it is now: Get shot, ->64health, get shot again ->28 health, use bandage -> 48 health. Letting you take an extra bullet than you should be able to.

Yeah don't you hate that, worst ones are wear people do it intentionally when no one wants to be SL in the entire team. Never join Alpha/Bravo etc squads at round start.

That I would say will hurt the mod more than it gives.

I shudder at the thought of having to rely upon h3l0piel0t69 to MEDEVAC myself or any of my team-mates...

I think from a gameplay aspect, we can only go so far with the corpsman/ medic/ hospitalization. While the mod strives for realism, the fact is, you get shot once, hopefully you don't die and a medic gets to you in time, you get MEDEVAC'd, checked over in a field hospital, then maybe flown off to Germany or something (if you're deployed) for treatment/ surgery.

Not to bash your idea, it's cool, but I'd rather have the magic corpsman bag than hang out in Germany with my virtual arm blown off.

we actually had a thread about the tent and stuff ca. half a year ago. i think (and if i remember correctly, the devs thought the same) that it would be too much work compared to the gameplay benefits.

medic is a problem though. all this e-penis swinging, whining noobs that don't want to play medic. i hate it. and it's the same wherever you look. in clans, in the tournament, everywhere. just complaints if s/o is forced to be medic like: i die too often and fuck. yeah. of course. coz almost all medics charge like crazy and then are surprised that they get owned...

Only way I could see the use for a medic tent would be...

If there was a specific kits request able to operate the medic tent, perhaps an unarmed medic with lots and lots of patches. Make these medics illegal to shoot, like the civvies in Insurgency, the players that do it get punished.

This would stop medic being targeted, and no one would have an excuse because they would have a great bit red + on thier door.

The medics get their own truck or humvee with a great big red cross (or whatever the international symbol for medic is these days) that only they can drive. Medic classes could then drive around looking for people who have been injured, pick them up, drop them into the truck and go back to the tent to heal them up.

Remove the medic pack from the soldier medics and double the number of patches they have. (afterall to do substantial repairs to a victim you couldn't do it in a battle without somewhere to haul up safe beforehand, which cant really be simulated in PR) this way players would not be able to heal themselves fully, or be healed but still patch themselves to stop the bleeding.

make patches stop bleeding but not heal.

to heal fully the medic station is available. and yeah youd have to make people really fear death. The problem is, is that increasing spawn times to 5 mins might mean almost no one is on the map and gameplay would slow down alot. What if scores were set to 0 if you die? For alot of people scores are still important. Might stop people going in all gun hoe.

TBH even after all this, i cant see it working, its a really nice idea to have a medic tent but it wont do anything but make people call out for medic in the chat channels. Then they would curse medics for not being there. It dosnt add alot to game play. besides im not sure i like the idea of trusting my life in the hands of 1-2 guys just so i can get healed
