Better Animations

I think in PR not all but most of the animations are BAD.

1.When u take At Kit u have to w8 a few seconds to use ur kit, why we cant see how he prepare it to shoot?

2. Whenu are in a vehicle and get out it makes "plumpf" and u are on the ground, why we cant see that he open the dorr jump out and close the door?

3. When u destroy a Vehicle u can see a little bit of flames and smoke,
for me it must be a BIGGER BANG!

I know its not very easy to make these things, but if you can make these animations it would be a better game!

The developer team is currently very short on animators.

Currently they have only 1 official + I think Fist knows how to animate.

Therefore unless you know how to animate yourself, I wouldn't expect too many improved animations anytime soon.

Car door animations are probably hardcoded anyway, so are picking-up-kit animations.

And i rather have smoke and flames instead of a hollywood explosion.

car door animations? where? nothing there => can't be hardcoded.
if you CAN animate, you should maybe step up and help. i myself cannot animate shit :(

Now I actually took a time to fully read through OP's post.

1. He doesn't mean kit swapping kits animation, he means animation for equipping H-AT. My previous answer applies to this point.
2. I believe this is 99% hardcoded (hardcoded=not possible to integrate in the current engine)
3. This ain't Hollywood ;-)

Actually, he's half correct the current Car explosions are a bit lackluster:
YouTube - Mythbusters: Exploding Car - Hollywood vs. Real Life

Still, these are BF2 car explosions.. so unless someone makes alot of bits of every single vehicle, i doubt it will be done any time soon.
Rico11b: Better than that just take the body out of the game all together, and we'll have floating heads in game.

That's right, I was actually answering to every point in his post.
Besides, I have (or shall I say had after the edit ;-) ) there a typo that might confuse someone. Post instead of point.

And about that help: that, indeed, sucks.

Took me a while to respond, I know, but the damn video wasn't loading.

Man, you can't compare THAT with normal explosion. That thing was armory on wheels! There were at least 10 kilos of explosives in there :lol:

Oh, sorry. The "At" looked more like a misslepped "a" than like "AT" to me, sorry.

The problem is - why would a car explode? Most of the time you crash a car, get it destroyed by gunfire, rockets or grenades. There shouldnt be much of an explosion except the grenade's or the rocket's explosion, unless the car is full of explosives.

The problem is - why would a car explode? Most of the time you crash a car, get it destroyed by gunfire, rockets or grenades. There shouldnt be much of an explosion except the grenade's or the rocket's explosion, unless the car is full of explosives.

That's exactly the point.

Actually, I doubt there's too many ways to make a normal car (anything that doesn't contain explosives) explode.
You can shoot thousand of bullets through the car without even making it explode.
Maybe if you would be lucky enough you may hit a battery cable that would ignite the fuel. Tracer bullets should work as well, but whatever the cause would be, IMO the car would more of burn away than explode.

Depending on a used warhead a rocket might just fly through. If it would ignite the fuel the same thing IMO applies - the fuel would burn away.

I guess the same with grenade as it just creates a lot of shrapnels.



EDIT @callumh:
In the 2nd video that's a racing fuel (kerosene?). These things are way different from standart gasoline.

I know there's a 1 DEV specialized on animation (forgot your name, so whoever you are, sorry ;-) ).

Then I thought THE.FIST did animations for IDF but don't quote me on that.

Normaly cars dont explode, like someone said, they usualy just burn. the Myth busters vid didnt show what happens to a car when it simply has a crash or is shot at.

Cars do explode but its rare... even when hit by explosives things dont normaly explode like in hollywood... If anyone's read Bravo Two Zero, theres a quote in it somewhere ive looked but cant find it right now, but its something like "explosions arnt like they are in the movies" and that a fireball is only created if theres a secondary explosion.

Military explosives are apparently not very spectacular to watch. Its just a quick flash and lots of smoke and rubble.

Ive also seen a real car crash that ended in the car igniting into flames, it did NOT explode, it just burns the petrol very very quickly. You get a char grilled car lots of flames but no explosion.

Even when they do...

Thats it. Again NO HUGE FIREBALL no one goes flying. Id say alot of the explosions in PR are just right, things just "pop" and thats it.


Even a JADAM is unimpressive its just dust and smoke
