Consolidate controls

Post by Defiyur »

Hi, was wondering about consolidating the controls so you don't have a different button for every little thing. I think it would greatly help newcomers get a hang of the game when there isn't a different key for every minor variation of action. For instance the zoom for tank is the "countermeasure" key and zoom for helo gun is "cyclecam" key, also view change for mounted guns is also cyclecam key.

Why not just have tank zoom/helo zoom/gun view all bound to the same key? Also similar with "pickup kit" and "enter vehicle" why 2 different keys? Why not just have a generic "action" bound to one key. I have to write down all the different binds because it's hard to remember them all. Is it engine limitations or something? I don't know just some thoughts.

It's much easier once you get used to it. Most of the controls have not changed from vBF2, except some of the newer changes like the tank zoom and such. These changes only take a short time to get used to, and once you do know which key does what, the game is not hard to play at all. Having different keys for simillar things is mostly because these keys were orginally two different things. The mod team changed the action that this key did, not the key itself. The old tank counter measure was removed from the game and replaced with a zoom feature, not just switching the keys.

Note: Tank countermeasures are still available, but now the gunner has this responsibility. S/he must switch to Smoke with the 'F' key.

arma is rediculous. atleast they let you do the double tap keys to do things like PR does (think of w+w for sprint)
