Frustrated
Yeah new maps and assets would be nice but more than anything, I would like the frustrating aspects of PR to be sorted. Most solutions throw up other problems so theres no easy answers, but heres a few things I think would really help the game without really affecting realism:
1. No one man armour/attack helis.
2. Die if you tk more than 2 people ( Simulate arrest )
3. Weaspons disabled in base, and bleed if you stay in base for more than 5 mins unless its last flag. ( Maybe make control posts be placed outside bases so can still have spec ops missions and defend against them )
4. Commander gets officer kit when he becomes commander instead of waiting due to " changing sq" ( Could make them die with long respawn when they resign to prevent abuse )
5. Make tank main gun less effective/disabled aganist a/c.
6. Some way of instant respawn on tked/quickly wasted assets in base.
7. More light transport with fast respawn at base. ( Maybe bikes and cars, but problem maybe solved by #6 )
8. Number of people required for rally dependant on number of people on team.

Care to elaborate on which ones are stupid and why - Im not saying youre wrong - It would just be nice to know though rather than just be called stupid. Youre obviously playing on different servers to me or maybe you dont bother with the public servers. Some maps have plenty of transport, but other dont - Sunset city?
2 trucks = 16
1 boat = still long walk + 6
22 places for 32 players I dont think thats more than enough, plus it usually means all the squads get split up. And please dont say "someone drive the truck back" Its never gonna happen.
Also Al basrah, ( I dont play it much as Im not a massive fan of insurgency maps ) Usually when I play it, all the armour and helis get wasted within the first few minutes. But tbh I agree Al basrah prob has a good balance.
Which other suggestions are stupid genius?

yes, but a well admined server can already deliver this

the spec ops problem you have already mentioned, once again a server or two have started a rule of no weapon discharges in base. Player side bug

I see no real abuse potential, if a team hasnt got a commander- why cant a squaddie just grab the position to give ppl build orders? It isnt perfect, but who said the bf2 commanding system was perfect?

People need to save their assets. How many abandoned rovers do you see on basrah? When I'm SL I've been known to say "Grab that rover, check it for mines first, I hate wasting assets"

its only two people required, so I see no problem. Yes if you get stuck on an underpopulated server you can be in trouble. But the maps are designed for paticular population sizes.

Yep. That's the point. But this is the big difference between realism and game! What do you think? If you take a landrover (maybe with your squad) to get to frontline you don't drive it back to the main base for further use. No! You just leave it there! Yep totally agree, but to be fair most players arent stupid. Unfortunately it only takes a few stupid players to ruin the experience the the many = extremely frustrating!Deadfast wrote:Players are hardcoded...

Most of the suggestions are because of players acting stupid.
Cheers Rudd for your points - what I meant by abuse of the commander postion, was people just getting the officer kit and resigning if there was no delay, but yeah good point - why cant they just give build orders straight away without it!
For a rally you need 3 people, but I was thinking maybe if you only needed 2 people if the server had less than 32 players ( maybe this would complicate things too much? )

Then they fly around for 2 minutes and crash it into wall. When the ex-pilot spawns back into base, there are 2 squads waiting for transports.

It would be pretty unrealistic to have instant respawn when this happens, but then a totally unexperienced "pilot" is pretty unrealistic as well. Why punish the whole team?

1: Since 0.7 i have seen less & less single tankers cause of the turrent being stuck for atleast 30seconds, if this is not enough for you then what is ?
2: Die if you TK twice ? So if a buddy of yours accidently drives over your mine which kills 3 allied soldiers, you are to be killed of thier misstake ? Alright..
Theres plently of servers who has fairly good administration, dvs all you have to do is report them & they're pretty much gone.
3: What if you have to defend yourself in base & your weapon isnt working? Why would you start bleeding if you stay in the main base? thats just silly. Sometimes you need to go back rearming your vehicles & reorganize such things can take quiet a while.. Your suggestion is just nonsense
4: If you dont like it, dont apply for commander
5: whats A/C ?

At the end its mostly about the servers you play on, how active the admins are to prevent tking from happening.

Doesnt stop them being one manned though does it

No solution is perfect - maybe bring back the red cross above friendly mines? ( though I can understand the DEVs wanting to get rid of this kind of stuff )- on balance I think this would be a positive move. Most servers dont have an admin and even if they do it can take time to work out whats happened. Intentional Tk'ers are the biggest problem in PR imo.

Im not sure on this one myself as it does create other problems but does solve alot of the others. I cant see many reasons to be in base for more than 5 mins though unless your an asset whore waiting for something to spawn

Like many other players I dont like being commander, but sometimes I take it to help the team because noone else will. Obviously the commander should be in place before the round starts and then he has the kit already, but this doesnt always happen

Aircraft - and im not suggesting that the machine guns be disabled, just that its sometimes unrealistic the way tanks can down down a/c with their main gun.

I agree they have done an excellent job - I wasnt asking to spawn on the SL !!!!! Just saying you should need less people if theres less people on the server

its not unrealistic that a 120mm sabot penetrates a aircraft cockpit. that will teach them to be more careful next time...
