Helicopter crashes.
Hey something thats really drives me crazy is seeing those helicopters explode in the air when shot or when they hit the ground..would it be cool if the crashes just stay on the ground without explode, for the same time as a tank??

But this is a behaviour that should be obvious to any pilot. In PRMM only the spec ops got parachute. If a helo gets damaged in BF2, what do you do? Keep truckin' and assume everyone jumps out. If a helo gets damaged in PRMM, the pilot should "crash to the ground" asap or chances are that everyone will die...

people, buy 42, dl the EOD mod, and get shot down in a huey.
thats what we need it to be like. missles and stuff will just make it blow up, but gradual gunfire will start a fire, you most of the control over the heli, and you start spinning, crash to the ground (intact) and then have about 20 seconds to run away before stuff starts blowing up. wAAAY cooler than just boom.

But is it still the static system of spinning when low on global health? That was cool but far from anything "realistic" as it would always spin in one direction at a set amount of health. I think I asked that in another thread when the helo damage came up, but never figured out an answer (or I just forgot to check the thread, or I have forgotten the answer, lol!). If they are using a more dynamic system now I'd like that though.Figisaacnewton wrote:people, buy 42, dl the EOD mod, and get shot down in a huey.

Why not make it so that (if possible) below a certain amount of health there is slop in the controls?
For example, chopper I am flying has 20% health. I push X-Axis 10 degrees, the chopper responds X-Axis 5 degrees and Y-Axis 5 degrees. This would be a programmed always-the-same response - but it would give a great feeling of "fighting the stick" and loss of control in wounded air vehicles. Cool part is, if you are a kick *** helo pilot in game - you can learn the system and keep basic control, but it would still be a fight to keep it in the air.

I would like to see something like this for all vehicles in the game. It may not be possible to induce different physics characteristics to an already spawned object .. but perhaps disabling systems could be achieved.'[R-CON wrote:JavaMoose']Why not make it so that (if possible) below a certain amount of health there is slop in the controls?

I think the vehicle combat in BF2 is badly lacking .. very arcadey. Engine limitations aside, I'd love to see some focus on understanding what is possible and what we can do to make it better.
Infantry play in PRMM is quite decent .. but the vehicle stuff is still more "coin op" than realism mod imo. At some point I am hoping we'll get some focus on improving vehicle combat.

10-20 seconds... What if your real high up? You will blow before you make your emergancy landing!DelTaGC wrote:Helico with 0-15% health remaining should have their engines cut off or 90% power reduced to force an emergency landing, and have a 10-20 sec timer before burning and then boom!
Lets say 10-20 seconds after you contact the terrain or just ad more time.
P.S.. Nice idea DelTaGC.

If your real high up then you should blow up, its not like the burning electronics and flight controll systems are going "Hey this fellow is flying pretty high, we should burn at a slower pace to give him time to land so that sucker that shot at him dosent kill him."Pence wrote:10-20 seconds...
