[Weapon] F1 Hand Grenade

Post by AncientMan »

More or less my first model. 1247 Tris. I'll get around to posting a better render later, its 4am now :P .

Couldn't really find that many reference pics, these are what I worked off.

F3 (Practice grenade, pretty much the same as the F1)

Think it turned out alright considering its my first model and all, criticism is welcome :) . Suppose now I have to learn how to UV map it :P .

1247 Tris
643 Polys

Not sure what the limit is though, 1000 tris, or 1000 polys for grenades. Meh, cut down as much as I could, don't think I could go anymore without making it look like a box :P .

It's for the Australian Forces mod Oldirti.

yep that sounds like a good poly count, you could probably add a little more detail for the 1p mesh, I would say 600 polys should be the LOD0 of the 3rd person mesh, would aim for 800 for the 1p probably best :)

thou alot of your detail on the nade can be done via its texture, so you really dont need to add alot of poly detail to it, lod2 of the 3rd person mesh could have all the groves missing etc and just have them done via a texture etc :D

Made it more round since I had the extra polys to use. Now at 781 polys, 1511 tris. Unless anyone can spot anything that needs fixing, I'll try and learn how to UV map it :P . If anyone knows any good tuts to start looking at, please tell me :) .

Meh, I think it looks fine with the current level of scratches etc. Can't have it looking like it's 20 years old :-P .

Import is done, just reworking the animations so it looks a bit better. Cheers for the help btw :) . Once the anims are done, then it's finished :D .

Ok like major major bump so much so as this was the very last thread in our sub forum :P

Ok so there was a few fixs that were needed on the model due to some missing faces ect a couple of sizing issues of certain parts ect ect... I just fixed them up now and done another import into bf2, as it stands it uses the GB Grenades animations until good old Norris get his dirty hands on them and sprices them up abit. Heres a screenshot of it in editor.
I will post up some ingame ones soon.

HangMan: BF2 Editor, it has very strict limitations memory wise, and crashes all the time. Its like a girl. Treat it with respect and take it slow and you'll get places. Rush and get ahead of yourself and it will turn around and punch you in the mouth
