Al Basrah 0.5

i personally loved 0.5 al basrah, what you remember.. im not sure what you are all thinking of, but the Al basarah's i were in were full of epic moments in the black hawk... which were only to be ruined by a car bomber who just happend to be going by at that point in time.....


but, i disagree completly... the rounds i were in were just full carnage, car bombing raids were intense.. like, really intense... and the blackhawks were able to pwn any insurgents laying around....

but then the Mec snipers were amazing some rounds... that sniper rifel was a bit Over Powered... but i didnt care...

i remember shooting randomly at a black hawk pilot flying by, and i managed to kill him...

but really, i disagree so much... if any side was overpowered... it tended to be the Insurgents... even on rounds where the US outnumbered us 2 to 1

thats just me at least

Loved that map as insurgents. I help the First village many a time with the whole team there. We kicked some American butt. Now with insurgency there is way less fire fights and more just looking 4 brits 2 cap. I miss .5 BASRAH best map ever.

oh and dont for get

-Spawn Cars.

The fighting at the Flag just before the mosque was so awesome it was EPIC. I used to set up a technical(with the m2 back then) and Blast at any chopper that dared to come near good times I miss my opening few days of PR. (1st map was desert storm)

The only fun thing about 0.5 Basrah was using the T-62 as a highly effective improvised anti aircraft gun.

T-62 > A10
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Absolutely agree. Al Basrah 0.5 was most fun map. Especially RPG shooting at Apache or flying on helicopter in city. I want it back :(

Thanks to all for your answer, i can now see i'm not the own guy who want this famous map back on the next version.
I know not everybody wants it again, but, you can put it, and see if many people play it.
Like that, a lot of players will be able to enjoy themselves, like in 0.5, and the other can continue to play the other map.

In my opinion, i love the two different games, al basrah today and al basrah before, and i will continue playing this mod until its completely dead!

All anyone really has to do is download .5 and tweak it to be a bit more .756 friendly, and voila, you got it back.

I'm new to PR so I never got to play PR how it was before but I do wish basra was more intense/chaotic. I still would want it insurgents vs Brits since that's historically correct but I'd like to see the Brits given 1 attack chopper (cobra probably). It would make things alot more hairaising /intense/fun. Also I'm unfamiliar with all the vehicles/aircraft that are in PR is there a list somewhere so I know exactly what ones are in the game? Going through every map in practice mode and waiting for things to spawn so you know what's in the game is extremely tedious.

How has this been brought up once again...And it's not locked yet!

I'm amazed!

Attack heli's were tight though.I still think at least 1 WAH-64 Apache Longbow needs to be added into Basrah.Most all combat footage I've seen in basrah,has Apache/Cobra...

What i want with my topic is just a modern 0.5 al basrah, for add the conquest al basrah with more vehicules and more RPG! You know that i think Al Basrah is the most reallistic map i know on PR!! a town battle, that's the new generation of war!!

I know we can't put the 0.5 al basrah like it was, but only put new al basrah on conquest, with more vehicules, and more weapon for insurgents, so, they could defend themselves to chopper!

Thanks to read that dev, and think about it!

There needs to be a version of the map where time is "rolled back" So it could Be MEC VS US army that would be pretty sweet maybe with some urban tank battles. I like that idea +1

It was fun, but so is the current Al Basrah. My favorite part about the .5 version were the underground basements.

I dislike the British Al Basrah. The 0.5 Al Basrah was much better because it was an insurgent map that featured the USMC.

There was a reason an attack heli wasn't put in the map for .6/7, thats because it made cache destroying TOO easy for the Brits. Now an AAS version wouldn't have this problem but right now Basrah has some very balanced British teams. Adding in an attack heli and MORE armour/vehicles endangers this balance and you end up with Insurgents getting raped and half of the Brit team sitting at airport wanting to play with all their shiny toys. I LIKE the fact that playing as either side on that map means I'll have a really good infantry experience (because I'm an infantryman). Putting in more toys will ruin it, just like it ruined .5

I'm not against an AAS version of this map, maybe with Insurgents, maybe with MEC but I am definitely against messing with the assets already on there. They are perfectly fine right now, if you want more you're probably just a plane or chopper whore who likes the idea of not having to deal with a side with strong AA or their own aircraft.

Wrong. .5 Basrah was the most random and chaotic PR map ever! There was more fun in one round of .5 basrah then there is an any PR map right now!

I freaking loved how the map played out. If i was to list all the reasons why it would take me awhile. Long story short .5 Basrah > Everything Else. All other Vanilla, SF, EF, AF, maps. All other Bf2 mods maps, All other FPS games.

.5 Basrah was fucking God!
