Project Reality for Battlefield 3?

Post by Neo_Mapper »

Hi out there,
first I want to thank you for this awesome Mod =) Just playing it for one montch, but im already crazy when I cant play it...

Well... We got the year 2008 and Battlefield3 is coming, new engine, new gameplay, better modding ability(?). So I wanted to ask you if you are planing after a final 1.0 version of Project Reality for bf2 to start with a mod for bf3. I found some topics about it already, but there wasnt a definitve answer. It would be realy glad of you to say something official =) I think it would make bigger fun to play such a realistic gameplay with a realistic engine like frost-bite(?).

uhm and btw: I know that my english su**, but I hope u could understand everything ^^'

There are no plans to switch the engine at the moment, IIRC.

Well, if there was a BF3, hopefully it'll be good...

but knowing EA, we'll have to wait and see.

(Actually, what I want is a "Plausibility Mod" for BF2142... sooo many things I can think of to put in that, being that I don't have to research everything... tweak the things that need fixed! hence why I came back to BF2. Much better, anyway...)

Its debated to piece if the devs shall go to bf3 I believe when it comes out. If bf3 is a btter mod engine I believe it can be in their thougths.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Well the thing is with the limited destructibility in this engine, imagine how CRAZY the devs would go with like 90% destructibility!! It doesn't bare thinking!! :P

wow, so freaky many answers in such a short time!? AT THAT TIME!? not bad :D

Uhm yeah that would be realy cool =) you realy would have to change your strategies if the building, where you want to hide, was just shot by a chopper xD
@devs: I think Im not the only one who would say this: pls, pls make a version for bf3... Maybe there will also be a sp, so you could realy make a TUTORIAL for everyone, so they wouldnt be less noobs on the server...

How are people here not knowing what BF3 is...It's set to release sometime late this year, according to EA/DICE's recent statements...But it'll be using the same engine as Battelfield:Bad Company. The Frostbite engine.

-And personally I'm just sick of looking at this ugly BF2 engine now a days...It'd be awesome if PR switched engines,to something a lot more "prettier" lol...But I'm cool with it if it stays here on the BF2/Advanced Refractor 2 engine.

The BF2 engine is actually quite beautiful, depending on how it's used, but those stupid limitations prevent us, the modders/mappers, from using the engine properly.

Hmm... considering that I haven't seen any major media on it, I doubt BF3 will be released this year. I'd be more willing to bet it'll get delayed into the spring or summer of 2009, maybe even as late as the fall.

If anything, I could see PR still supporting BF2 up to a year or more after BF3 is released, just because there's so much content coming (Community Factions being the bulk of that). And I think PR has a strong & solid playerbase to do that.

Someone please link me to this official news about BF3. Last time I checked (like 2 weeks ago) BF3 was nothing more than a weak rumor. If it's fact now I'd love to hear about that fact. Thanks!

AFAIK, you're talking about BF: Bad Company, which will be using Frostbite, but that's a console game. I've not seen anything that might suggest it'll be released on PC. BF3, nothing official from anyone yet..

I cant link to it, and even if I did, you wouldnt have access to see it. The topic has been brought up several times during internal discussions. There're a couple of engines that have been named; mostly trying to go with an engine that has good physics, networking (for many players) and that is mod-friendly-er, etc...

There're no decision on anything. Furthermore, the team is still focused in BF2 :P RM because that's where we stand right now. When the time comes for such an announcement, it will be posted. However, dont loose any sleep over it, it doesnt look like it will be any time soon..

In addition, switching engines has been discussed and re-discussed.

Locking.
