3 ideas to improve

Post by Gostek »

As a Commander I found that I'm missing marker I can follow, this is used by teams [SL].

Especially on AL Basrah [all insurgents?] map there is a way to improve awarding players with points.
We have a slim chance to finish any map with small amount of points, but when it comes to Al Basrah, especially Insurgents we can't really gain them many. I can't see exacly where I'd put improvements, I just know that ppl that play insurgents most of the time are not accordingly awarded.
There is one tip coming to my head actually. One of the main strategies of Insurgent enemies is to blow the bridges leading from the Palace to mainland. It cost a lot of effort to get enemy kit, break trough a city to bridge and repair it.
Once I did it, it took me abo' 20 min to finish whole operation [3 bridges], and I was awarded with 0.00 points :? ??:

Just one other thing. When everyone spawns, weapon is set on single shot fire. It helps enemy that is around spawn point to take care of you. It would be great if: weapon in default would be on auto or/and every one might get no-kill time after respawn [seen in FarCry].

What do you think?

semi is better than auto. Also, it stops new players from spraying all their lead.

I dont really care about points at all, cant say anything about this.

Technically the AKM should be set to auto first, as the fire selector has safe at the top, auto in the middle, and single at the bottom.

This is correct - would be a nice touch especially for the insurgents

But in real life, when fire selector is moved off safe, it is probably moved straight to single shot mode as center/full auto postition is indicated only by a small notch between two opposite locks of the selector. It actually requires some attention and carefulness to set it for full auto (based on my 11 month experience with RK 62 at Finnish Defence Forces). And AFAIK some AK's doesn't even have single shot mode (correct me if I'm wrong).

Hm, I would have thought it would be more difficult to go between the two.

I really do want to fire one of those one day, just to have done it.

It's not difficult when not in hurry :) But basically selector goes always to single mode first and then you have to move it backwards one click to get full auto.

Edit:
Wiki has actually a good picture of disassembled weapon where selector positions are cleary visible. Please note that this is not AK, so its selector might differ:

Back in The Days I could disassemble that thing, remove stuck casing and then re-assemble it blindfolded in a very short time (like 20 secs or sth). And believe me, it's not hard at all :)

Why do you really care that much about points? There's no ranking system in PR, no unlocks, just perhaps the occasional bragging rights to no one that cares.

First if no one cares about points remove it, and I see no probs about it. But as long as something exist might be as well as tweaked.

Second I didn't see many ppl doing that so I guess there are always players that will care about score.
So if none of REAL player care about score there should be like easy solution. If you tempt notREAL players by giving them ie 100 points for unpopular tasks [repairing, building] in comparison to 2 pts for kill, assist, cache destruction etc. We all get rewarded. For those that play for a team nothing will change, those that play for a score will finally start to do something for a team.

I agree that semi is better. But for a reason I gave I think auto is better even if not perfect.
