Am I the only one who despises Oasis?
Oasis is the new Karkland or something, I always see it in map votes, too bad I hate the map. It isn't so bad with less people, and when a degree of strategy is used. The only time I have fun on it is when I'm charging through a smoke screen, other than that it's just poking your head a bit too high and getting it shot off.
When we played it in the 64 player version it was, imo, terrible. After we secured the oasis itself it was only a matter of finding a good place to shoot my gun from and rack up kills. I found a nice spot near the top of some stairs where I could use a bit of the building for cover and unload on the hills the building overlooked. I quickly managed to get a record of 24:1 just unloading on the USMC that had taken possitions in the hills, and with my trusty medic at my side I was invincible. My record dropped soon afterwards because I decided I was tired of sitting in one place and killing anything that tried to rush. For me the game either goes this way, or I'm on the team that's trying to take the oasis. That is even worse because You'll do your best to stay stealthy and flank around. You sometimes even make it to the the oasis. But, upon your arrival there is a whole team of very upset soldiers that don't like you intruding on their grounds.
It can't just be me who hates the utter lack of tactical possibilities in the map can it?

Oasis is a hit or a miss, because, when it's a tug-of-war between the middle bases, it's fun as hell! Especially with the humvees/vodniks, but, also, today (probably the same game), at the end, we got spawncamped so hard it wasn't even funny. Our uncappable was crowded with enemy guys.
Maybe some tweaks, but a great, Desert-Stormish map!

I absolutely hate playing that map. It has a good idea but AAS has a horrible sequence and the bases are way to close together.

it might be better it was more linear (the bases more in a straight line), so that the AAS would keep people from flanking so much, then you could at least be relatively safe assuming your flank is safe, and at least stay down and be a marksman with your assault rifle, or a sniper

I like this map but the Oasis flag itself needs a little revamping. The terrain needs a few little valleys between it and the MEC HQ. It would also be nice if more palm trees and rock formations were present to provide cover, and slow vehicle travel.

Its not hard to remove them. just edit the .con files
EDIT: you just never see any maps modded like this on vBF2 (Ranked) as EA are schum and wont let you do this as it would spolie there adobral ranking system that makes BF2 so ****!

- Increase Grass Draw Distance Please! Its A Must!
- Keep the Vehicles! Just do this: Heavy & Light Jeeps Respawn Time: 30 Minutes. This will make you value that jeep, and not use it like a smacktard.

If the map was changed it would be far better. I would also like the vehicles removed also. I guess another option would be to raise the spawn time, but that by no meens will make people(most people) value them and use them carefully.
The map would also be good with actual squad combat, but I haven't ever seen it on that map done as well as on others.
