just an idea to the devs

Post by maz.uk »

at the momenet rally point areas are 100 meters from a flag its all good for bigger maps ,is it possible to put it back to 60 or 70 for 16 size maps, due to the fact that most small maps you have to go way of course to set one and there will be no cover and only a couple of place on the maps that every one knows about and it sort of defetes the idea of placing them ,with a smaller range we can get the team work back to as it should be moving as a group rather than being all over map ,any players that have been around for a bit on pr will no were the places are to plant a new rally, and it will take them no longer than 2 mins to go and sniff out the enemys rally point and remove it,

keep infanrty alive :)

if this is possible then it would be a nice change. On most 16p maps (such as ejod) you already know where the enemy rally point will be before they have even set one.

I wonder if 16p maps need RP's? Better that there is none and then no one gains a sudden overwhelming advantage maybe?

Remember that many of the small - medium maps were not designed for the current style of gameplay. That is to say, you could spawn directly onto capped flags. Because of this, flag points were spaced about 100-150 meters apart which helped force the action.

Now that flag spawning is gone, setting rally points outside of the tightly packed 100 meter flag radius creates the problem you described.. very few and very predictable locations to place a rally. BUT.. I don't think the answer is to reduce the rally distance restriction.

Instead, consider this:
On smaller maps, reduce the number of flags to 1 or 2 max, similar to Sunset City, where the capture radius is huge.

Removal of the multiple, closely placed flags in favor of 1 central flag has greatly enhanced Sunset City and in three important areas:
  1. It makes the map feel much larger which is perfect for 64 people in a confined area on such a small map. In fact, Sunset City could further benefit from an even larger capture radius, allowing infantry to effectively make use of the temple and hills while still holding the flag.
  2. With only one flag and a huge capture radius, squads are free to place their rally points anywhere in the city or surrounding area.
  3. Rally placement and infantry movements are FAR less predictable, making the map play a bit differently (and thus more exciting) each time.
Small - medium maps like Mestia, Bi Ming, Ghost Train, Ejod, and Quai could also greatly benefit from this approach. Moreover, make the 1-2 flag idea part of the 32 layer version which is never used on these maps anyway. It would help give these maps a fresh new way to play them without changing the existing 64 layer.

i disagree one or two flags is just killing infantry maps ejod 16, is a perfect map for infantry lots of flags and team work is a must to take the map, plus maps with very few flags turn in to spawn rape at the main or ticket bleed and the servers soon empties ejod has no ticket bleed and only time you get raped is when its time to get the last flag making the map enjoyable to the end,you play this map to take all the map not to win on ticket bleed

why are smaller maps not designed for the current style of gameplay infantry battles are the main point in any map

64 players on a 16 map with one flag ? makes no sense and they are not designed for that

smaller servers with lots of flags is far better its more down to your hole team working together and most the time you have to work dam hard to win not just cap the one flag and then hold it untill ticket bleed wins you the map

yup, agree on your suggestion maz.uk, 60 would be nice
and agree on sunset city... mostly your team loses cuz of one team getting the flag, and raping the base
or you just ticket-bleed to death
2 flags on sunset?
