Driving enemy verhicles

Post by ChainsaW »

Why can't we drive enemy verhicles. Is it because we don't have the keys or the steeringwheel is on the wrong side. Wouldn't is be more realistic it an engineer could "hotwire" a verhicle with his wrench so you could drive it.
Or is it just to prevent stealing.

Cheers.

I had forgotten until now that in vBF2 you can drive enemy vehicles, lol.

It would be possible to allow Spec Ops guys to drive light enemy vehicles. However the way that vehicles are used in PR, as disposable transports in many cases, is unrealistic and building such a system would just be an extension of the same issue.

That said, perhaps the knowledge that your vehicle could be stolen will make people more careful with them.

Friendly indicators take a long time to show up, and given that people begin to associate the enemy by their vehicles, I think this, combined with lack of a minimap will make this suggestion a very very bad one.

It would seem reasonable for Engineers and Spec-Ops to be able to drive enemy light vehicles, but ultimately I feel that the dev's time can be best spent else-where. :)

Like in real life where you can't identify a person driving a vodnik toward you...

The idea is just a little dumb...

Man,Do you expect a USMC soldier,to know how to operate a Vodnik/T-90/BTR-90?!!!

The only thing I must agree with,is that, yes,I do thing Spec Ops. should be able to use enemy light vehicles, like dirt bikes,ATV'S,and maybe trucks/cars...But that's about it.

Well, in the case of light transports, a car is a car is a car. One problem is the lack of keys and the (probable) security of the car's wiring and fuse box, but let's skip that and say that either he happened to have the keys to a Vodnik or found a way to hotwire the vehicle and drive away.

Even in the improbable circumstance that this happened, driving back to his forces would be difficult, as he would just get teamkilled by the (justifiably) frightened troops nearby.

The only facet of this concept I agree with is limited control of a vehicle's functions; namely, dropping supplies from enemy vehicles, where applicable.

I thought the problem was that you could see unmanned enemy vehicles if every1 can drive them?

dr2b got it...
if vodniks/humvees can be used by both sides, an empty vehicle indicator will appear on the map for everyone after the vehicle is unoccupied. this means that if your squad sneaks around the enemy or off to the side and need to get out of the vehicle, the enemy will know sooner or later that you were/ar there...

already suggested btw, please search

Yep, if the vehicles are not team locked you see them on the map when they are empty.

For a while there was a bug where you could drive enemy vehicles. Trust me when I say it was the best way to get TK'd... Sure, it confuse the enemies, until you open fire on them but the minute you would get drive toward your base you would get teamkilled.

Is there some game variable for the amount of time it takes for an occupied vehicle to show up as neutral on the map? If so, we could set it to 9999, effectively meaning that it isn't seen at all on the map.

Welcome to the forums. All vehicles are team-locked for the reasons explained in this thread; this will not change. This has also been suggested before. NP, though; in the future, please use the search feature and the "Already Suggested" thread at the top of this section of the forum. :)
