Basra and IEDs

Post by OverwatchX »

Do you think that the insurgent IED should be a pick up kit?

I feel that it should and that it should also require more time to deploy rather than just a toss on the ground. Perhaps requiring that one lay down and then have to bury it taking about a 30 seconds or more.

Frankly, the fact that they are so easy to get (just by taking the appropriate class) that it impacts the role of Brit armor a little too much. I dont want to see tanks and APCs roaming freely in Basra but...

I guess they do, especially given the non standard nature of their design.

edit- I don't think it should be a pick up kit since it has an crappy main weapon. If it had an AK or whatever it would be a pretty powerful class by itself- hence worthy of being a pick up

I think they should make ieds bigger, But make it so you have to lay down to place them the same as land mines. Also make them invisible. This would be the most realistic option imo.

For the insurgents I think ALL kits should be spawnables, everyone starts as a Civilian.

What I was thinking and I don't know if this is possible with bf2 engine (probably not) but have it where you crouch or lay down wherever you want then instead of dropping 3 pipe bombs taped together how it currently is (lmao) you go through an "arming" sequence (wire cutters, twisting ends etc) then at the end of the animation a 500lb bomb appears with it's fuse end with wires attached sticking out of the ground slightly and then your remote pops up ready to detonate. This would make it a much better RL approximation of the process.
