Because it's a mod of a retail title , the developers can't make a profit off the game itself. That would violate the EA license.
However , there shouldn't be a problem slipping them a few bucks here and there as a gift to show your appreciation for their hard work and help them recover some of their out of pocket expenses.
Why spend $20 for a t-shirt that costs them $10 to make so they only realize $10 when you can simply contribute the same $20 by being a "supporting member" and they get the full amount.
There's also a certain amount of risk involved in merchandisings because someone has to put up the initial capital and hope they can sell enough to at least recover their costs.
I've got easily over $100 worth of games I bought on impulse because they sounded good (CoD4 , HL2 and BF2 to name a few) and they sucked big time (IMO). Wasted the $$'s which I could just have easily used to "renew" my supporting membership.
Aint buying any games based on magazine reviews ever again...especially when the magazine contains full page adds from the developer they are reviewing.
Guess BF2 wasn't a waste as without it I'd have never found PR.

As Viper5 said, there was someone initially 'in charge' of merchandise - all I remember was a T-shirt design with a PR logo hanging from the neck, (mugs and dogtags were also suggested from what I remember), although those plans never took off- most likely due to logistical reasons (PR is an international community after all). There is enough demand for people to pay for the stuff.
-Oh and what you should ask yourself is not whether you're disobeying any copyright laws, but who gets to keep the profits- you or the R-DEVs

What if I was able to make these shirts and sell some...
(not many of course, maybe some on Ebay)
Then give the profit to you guys?
You know, you guys arent making money off the shirts(technically and literally) And I am just giving you money becuase I like PR, really, there is no proof that you are making money off the BF2 name.
Seriously, I am in no way connected to you guys, and If you say okay, there is no line between you guys and myself.
I wouldnt have to give you guys money, but since you let me use your logo, I will voluntarily*spell check that* gve some to you guys for development.
Once again, I would not be making profit off of this, I would sell them on Ebay and make some money, then use the money to cover my tshirt bill, then send the rest to you guys?
or just sell them with no profit? Just a few bucks for tshirt making fees?
whatever it is(or just plain no) is you choice.

I would say they get the profits. The whole reason I started this thread was so that I could BUY my own shirt and SPEND money to wear it after i SPENT MORE MONEY to get the PR picture and logo on it.
I never intended to make money from this, but I make some shirts, the PR team will make all the profits, I dont need profits, I need only the satisfaction of many PR fans having a customized PR shirt because of me, and the whole teams approval.
or atleast the majority

Buying a Shirt for $20 if it is clear that $10 of that cost goes to a Donation to the PR Development Community to help support development of the game and upkeep of the realitymod.com server (bandwidth, rental etc) should not be against any laws that I am aware of. If all funds are kept in a single area and go only to specific costs involved with the game mod and do not pay for salaries of individuals then all would be good.
It's when people start getting paid salaries or gain some sort of income from the venture that it starts to become an issue. NPO and other charity groups not certified with the government (school clubs etc.) can do this easily without issue. So I'm pretty sure PR Mod team could do this as well. Hell if they wanted to sell cookies and candy bars they could do that as well.

Well, I have to have their permission, since it is a copywrite.
And it would sadley cost more than $20, But yes, all the money earned would go to PR team, keeping up the site, and oither expenses.
Yet i dont have their permission yet so I cannot.
But im still planning.....
Like.... the PR dogtags on the front... and maybe a PR piucture(choosing from a few or making a personalized choice that costs extra).
It would only cost extra bescase a silk spray on shirts is costly.
Sadly they[hypothetically] would cost more than just $20 dollars, but If you can find anybody or know anybody that would make a bunch for cheap, then just PM me a link!
and then the[hypothetical] price would go down.
But yeah, I still dont have complete permission. And I need it to make these.
