Map type : urban
Gamemode : AAS

factions : USMC vs Insurgents
Vehicles USMC : APC x2 humvees x4 TOW humvees x2 Supply Trucks x4
Air Support: Apache x1 Delayed spawn 30min
vehicles Insurgents : technicals x4

Pickup Kits Insurgents: Sniper, RPG, Manpad AA, PKM

What would make this map unique and very interesting for the PR community?
An awesome mixture of middle range and close quarter combat. Its a mechanized infantry map with air support based on a real fight. I got my inspiration from this documentary: PART 1 YouTube - Battle Of Najaf, Iraq pt 1

Objective USMC
Secure the area around the Mosque at the old city Najaf and bring the Mosque back in control of the government of Najaf.
This includes to secure the biggest cenementry in the world.

What do you guys think of it?
I can imagine what maybe some of you guys know say: "You want it? Make it!"
And I could you give the answer ;) I can't :D Honestly? I am a total mapping noob. And this project would be way too big for me alone. But I really think this could become a wonderful map for PR

looks very nice for me. Think this could be a very good PR map.

But plz not 30 min Spawntime for the chopper... Look the Vid. Thes nice air support explosions :-)

There is no 30 minutes respawntime on the choppers it is 20 and stop ranting it won't change anything.

Forget TOW's. Those are too expensive to be wasted on technicals.
Otherwise the concept is ok.

Great Idea. Why not try to make it. Use the BF2 editor and the helpful threads [R-Dev]Rhino and mapping team have in the community moding section.

There is one problem. There are no gravestones in BF2. I haven't seen them while mapping but I could be wrong. And the map would be mostly on a cemetery.

Yes, it would be the same reason why the Attack helo was removed from Al Basrah.

I am not ranting at all..... and i never tried to change any preseted respawn times.
Maybe you just missunderstood me.... I don't want the USMC to have it right away.. so it will spawn later... I was thinking of two options after a certain time (30min or when its preseted 20 min) or after the USMC has taken phase 3.

I choosed the apache because it was in the documentary.. i don't care if its the apache or the cobra.
Same is with the TOW Hummvees, due to the documentary they had them... and I don't care if they are expensive ;) I don't have to pay them... do you?

I know the point with the gravestones, but there are only static stones and i have no clue how complicated they are to model... as I said... I have no experience in this part.

I already read the threads from Rhino, installed everything (except the lightmaps so far) but this prog doesn't work very well with my pc... BTW: I would invest a lot of time in the map, thats not the problem.. but I think without someone how have a clue about all this stuff I would just waste the time.

Mmm... I saw on video on youtube showing a Bradley shooting a TOW into a building...

Here it is!

So I guess if a technical was a dangerous for troops they would shoot it down with TOW, even if there were some infantry hidden like the sniper from the video they would use it.

About the map idea. I like it a lot.

Nice map, but I think a Najaf is already in the works by an R-CON?

WRT TOWs- TOWs are frequently used by Weapons Companies in Iraq to soften buildings and hardspots. MIssiles/Bullets are cheaper than lives.

I can try to make some gravestones, but I'm new and they may be ugly. :p They'd be great for cover IMO. But hundreds of the same thing could be repetitive, I could add variety.

Pics of the gravestones?

Plz no attack choppers on Insurgents maps :-? This is just the overkill and make realy no fun to play against it. (Basrah with Appache :neutral :)

Would be cool to see also the USI humvee with the Browning instead of just the dice one. Sad that we havent a working GROW System at the moment in PR.

As said, I'd suggest you not put in an AH-1 unless its 4km, in which case why not pop in a Hornet :P

You could prolly get in 2x Huey (Delayed Spawn) or 1x Trans and 1x Gunship Huey if the gunship ever comes along.

Ground Vehicle Suggestion would be:
6x .50 HMMWV
3x TOW HMMWV
2x LAV-25
2x CO Truck

They had Hueys.... hmmm.... nice idea.. but only one ;) i would like to have the battle more concentrate on the ground. If it gets 4k it will have an AH-1 ;)

And a AC-130 „Gunship" *looooooooooooooooooool*

i would like to see a strictly city map in insurgency(literally all city) and then the apache on that. So like a MAAASIVE city and apache on that, cos then you would have lots of cover, but it would be very real
