Chopper communication with non-squad members

Post by Alex_Teixeira »

I really enjoy being a transport chopper pilot and i understand that my duty is transport ANY soldier, not only from my squad, so, i think that it would be nice if chopper pilots could communicate with ALL soldiers INSIDE his chopper and hear all commander´s orders too, not only from his squad.

ps: sorry for my english it´s not my native language.

-VOIP is hardcoded so that won't work but if we could add a "Destination?" option to the commo rose and stuff like that it would be great. Also, a transport chopper is not just for moving people from A to B, it's extremely useful for supply drops and FB/Bunker building, especially on carrier maps. Had a great game on Jabal a few days ago, had a dedicated chopper squad(Which is far more useful than an infantry squad having one chopper as you can coordinate these things and get a better overview of where potential threats are) that delivered supply crates to the beaches and other flags(Some CO had placed the CP on the carrier but even with supply trucks it's hard to get them where you need them) so that bunkers could be built. You can also place FBs in easily defensible location that are impossible to reach with trucks and you won't have to chase down a squad with your truck to get something built. There are so many strategies and tactics that go unused by the majority of players, it's a bit disappointing.

If I ever fly, I ask for rough coordinates from the passengers. D6, E5, A8, and so on. Commanders can place Landing Zones on the map seen by everyone on the team, so if the SL in the chopper tells the Commander where to place it, that could count.

Yeah, if possible i will only fly the hueys on jabal, its such a fun map... I will always create a chopper squad, organise (and hopefully with commander who can comm with other squads and tell me where threats are) and then its a low fly zone to all LZ's. Utalising Supply crates can be very effective if your team asks and realises their potential.

But probably the most off putting thing about chopper flying is nooblets, who shout and rage about where they want to go; a chopper pilot can't always be looking at whats being said in the chat, its just impossible sometimes, especially when eveyrbody is raging and expects them to come first. Or, just people who don't say anything and then get out of the chopper and start shooting at you because your not flying, or second most common, numpties who expect you to fly basically into the enemies HQ

I dont see this making a difference, on maps where choppers are needed there is a lot of time to tell the pilot where to go by typing it, VoIP would be a nice aesthetic but not on this engine, sorry.

Yes, all of us, who fly these birds have to improvise a bit to improve communication, unfortunately I was not aware of the difficulty of implementation.
