That happens to me aswell,
Specs:

AMD Sempron 1.8ghrz
Nvidea 1650
3Gb RAM

It runs everymap fine on low with 1 or 2 med. Also runs Vanilla BF2 all med except lighting & Dynamics but even that is getting better after I cleared some stuff.
