Unless the game supports 100% functional motion blur (like in movies) you can easily see the difference betweet 30fps, 60fps and 100fps.Jonny wrote:This is too high.
Movies are shot at around 25 fps, so when you are in control of the 'movie' 30 fps is about as much as you can physically see.
Therefore 60 fps just benefits players with better computers, while 30 fps effectively levels the playing field while avoiding any noticeable effect at all.
So it should be 30 if it can be done.

And either way, let's leave the moderation of the forum to the Moderation staff, ey? Unless something offends you so badly you're willing to write a PM to a member of staff to let them know, just leave it be instea' moaningDeadfast wrote:This thread discusses the dependence of suppression effect length on framerate, which is dependent on hardware, that varies between PR players.TheSkudDestroyer wrote:I could have sworn this was the PR General, not the Hardware....Then you are wrong.

While you bring up a valid point to suppression in gameplay, in general. You don't really address the the topic, which is that the suppression effect is affected heavily by frame rate, making it unfair to people who get 20fps, compared to those who have 100.TheSkudDestroyer wrote:I could have sworn this was the PR General, not the Hardware....
The suppression effect is a gameplay choice. It is not realistic. We all know that. But ask anyone who's been to Iraq and they can tell you being shot at is not exactly a cake walk.
The human body is amazing, and under extreme amounts of stress you can see distortions and lose hearing/vision focus.
Suppression effects are a great trade off of realism and gameplay.

Dont post often but i do read the forum. I like the new Suppression effect and assumed that it was equal for all players. If the claim of the OP is true and it is dependant on how powerfull a players PC is then this is a bug and should be treated as such. PR has always been about skill and team work not "best kit". If it is bugged, then hopefully the devlopers can fix it, if that is "working as intended" then personally, i think that is not a good addition to the game

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Deviation is also based on frames per second. For example, to achieve maximum accuracy, a player with 100fps waits about 0.8 seconds between shots. A player with 30fps has to wait 2.67 between shots. It's unbalanced, it's unfair. It's EA.willgar wrote:I like the new Suppression effect and assumed that it was equal for all players. Edit Correction:
Server frames per second, which is 30fps for all players, therefore deviation is the same for everyone.

I am pretty sure this is not the case... if it is this is the first time I've heard of it, but it makes no seance since deviation is done server side and not client side?Wolfe wrote:Deviation is also based on frames per second. EA's got some explaining to do.
"You know we've had to imagine the war here, and we have imagined that it was being fought by aging men like ourselves. We had forgotten that wars were fought by babies. When I saw those freshly shaved faces, it was a shock "My God, my God?" I said to myself. "It's the Children's Crusade."- Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughter House Five

ok i think you are thinking of the engines frames, this is the same 30/sec for every person. deviation being effected by how fast your graphics card can render makes no sence what so ever.Wolfe wrote:Deviation is also based on frames per second. Game.lockfps 200 for example would limit the Fps at 200 if you can get it that high.Snowno wrote:I think it may be possible for those with a uber computer to get the suppression last even shorter.. BF2 has a max fps of 100, but theres is a console command to unlock this 100 fps limit, wouldn't that make the suppression even shorter if they get like 800 fps?

While I guess I've got a middle of the road PC, and get heavily effected by the suppression effect, I'm actually really happy with it. I think it's a great element of the game, and one they are working on to improve. The Devs know about it, I'm sure they'll do all they can to make it work even better than it does now.
Another great aspect to a great mod, on a flawed engine. Can't have it all

wow, after i read this tread i know now why my m8 and other guys can shoot much faster after get supressed.
I first thinked it was a kind of cheat or something like this. My frame rate is about 50, and under supression round about 15-20.
But after watching the Vid its all clear. 4 Sec difference is very much @ close combat...
But the crying dont bring us anything. The dev´s know it and working on it.
I have to change the way to play the game, thats all for this moment. And wait for the new patch.
