In real life, the LMG gunner will carry 2-3 boxes himself, but every rifleman will also carrys a few boxes himself FOR the lmg's.

Hmm, considering that maybe we can change one of the seldom used classes into just a pure rifleman. M16 w/ iron sight, nades and ammo bag (x3) lets say. Make the 'assault' class into a rifleman with 203... no more no less.

We should start moving to more realistic loadouts I think...

Lets chart this out :)

I agree sappo, because our saw gunner never gave out ammo. He carried about 800 rounds with him. Basic combat load. Had body armor, and carried a few grenades in case. The Rifleman always carries a little more ammo for everyone. And my unit had all 68's. No iron sights in our batallion, unless that's what you liked.

Squad Leader : M16 - ACOG sight for spotting, smoke nades, hand grenades.
Rifleman : M16 - Iron Sights, a few nades and some ammo boxes.
203 Gunner: M16 - Iron Sights+203, 2 nade and ammo for himself (I personally carried 12 40mm HE rounds for my 203).
Support Gunner - M249, 4x ammo box.
Medic - M16 - Iron Sights, medical bag (limited to 2-3 revives per person per life as stated in another thread).
AT-Two rockets and an M-16
Sniper-M24 rifle, two grenades, two claymores, one knife.

good to see someone else agrees :)

well I do like the iron sight, what we need is a good optical reflex sight maybe to put on some rifles, the red-dot is not really suited I dont think for what they are trying to portray.

I don't know how you can say the SAW is realistic as is, in real life you can not drop instantly to prone with full accuracy, I hate everytime I come around a corner and put a 3rnd burst into someone just have them instantly prone and unleash a hail of lead.

That being said the problem isn't really the weapon its the way going prone works

Thats an issue that probably increases the effectivness of the machine guns, which I'm sure the PR devs are working on. If possible though I think restricting classes would help ease up on kit abuse. If not removing the "dive n shoot" technique should help.

hmm, well you know to a point you can just dive onto the ground, and start blasting away with pretty damn good accuracy.

its not a hard weapon to use at all, if you know the range of the target, set the sight and bam... you're usually dead on.

but at that token its not often that someone will be in a situation like BF2 whereas you just jump flat out and start blazing away.

it is, as noted a problem with the prone/accuracy itself, not zee gun

'[R-PUB wrote:BrokenArrow']I think it's fine that some weapons are really good, so long as they are realistically so. They just need to be limited in the numbers they show up in on the battlefield.
nobody here is critisizing the power and accuracy. The BF2 engine severely limits the use of it properly. The biggest problem is the instant accuracy when diving or even when they keep crouching and popping down and back up. The SAW needs something along the lines of the 203 code that requires you to be still, to simulate the tripod etc

This topic has put out quite a few new class suggestions, so I thought I might aswell throw mine in too.

I made the thread about it a while ago, I guess it was back when people didn't seem to realize there WAS in fact a problem with the current class system ...

http://realitymod.com/forum/t3748-class ... ngthy.html

Feel free to resurrect the thread if you like the idea ...
