well although the mortor idea is reasonable to promote realism. it brings back memories from 6.0 where on hills of hamayong map the US team kept spamming our postions with their unreachable (it was more than 100m outside the bounderies of the map) arty postions and we lost easily and our commander didn't know that we could use arty ourselfs he thought it was just docration for the map
.
but i'm still go for mortors just like since their such low range weaps (750miles more or less?) depending on maps maybe they should be in range of the first CP or nearest one of the main base so therefore if the team is getting beat down on their last flag before their last base they can call in an mortor strike on the enemy (note: useful if your retreating from it and the enemy is advancing and capping it heheh
) so all go for it?
??:

Re: Arty idea.
I think that artillery should be implemented as another "JDAM" like asset that is available every 10 min or so. Below is a video of the first smart artillery shell, the 155 mm Excalibur Projectile. I am not sure if it is used by the marines yet or by any armed branch of the military, but I can see that it could be a great option for a JDAM equivalent/addition for any faction, as long as it is implemented realistically.

It could be cool if the artillery had a warning sound like a "whizzeling from incoming rounds" maybe 5 second before it acctualy hits the target. It could become the most scary sound in PR

Re: Arty idea.
-Just gonna throw this out there; how about you start with 4 or 5 artillery strikes that have a loooong reload time? This way you could choose to use all five in rapid succession on a certain area or spread out over time depending on the situation, something like two or three shells per barrage, can only be requested by SL(Possibly Sniper/Spec Ops). You need to dislodge a small group of infantry from the woods, use one barrage and move in; got armor and entrenched infantry holding an important objective, throw everything you have at them.

Yea That sounds like a great idea. Let the commander decide how quickly eh wants to use it so he can utilize it at the heat of the battle. I would say 4-6 shells that each have a 10 min reload period each or something around there.

I'm liking the idea. Basically looks like an LGB launched in the air to me.
Anyways, artillery's been discussed a lot in the past, and I'm sure this idea has crossed the DEVs minds before. Pure speculation though.

Re: Arty idea.
A small light anti infantry barrage shouldnt be to much to ask for.
AS I now World in Conflict isnt the most realistic game I thought the artillery barrages was good one small for infantry one for convoys and one precise for heavy tanks. I would loved seen something like that just not as spammy and powerful as vbf2 artillery though.

Re: Arty idea.
what do you mean by spammy?
because the reason of why is called "barrier" is becasue they are lots and lots of shells going down.

Bit weak in the distance department, eh?captmohamed wrote:

Think o fit this way, America is roughly 3000 miles wide.
750 miles you could fire from the east coast and hit about two or three states inland.

I'm hoping that the Dev's havn't responded here because these decisions have all been made.
I'm still looking forward to this "secret surprise" that's supposed to be in 0.8... I'm hoping it's some kind of new toy that makes people hurt.

Re: Arty idea.
Take the " same" mortar of "Allied Intend" and patch it on 5.7^^! When the squad leader is ok, a saper can(near a supply truck, firebase, bunker) put 2 mortars on the ground with limited ammo.

Re: Arty idea.
how about with the arty map theres a coordinates box down below and you enter in the coordinates you want the strike on, (X=8 Y=15) kind of thing with the arty map the grids will be smaller and have more grids
