Try to join a squad with a good, experienced squadlearder. If you're lucky and got a mic, s/he'll teach you. When you're confused, you can look for squads named e.g. Teamwork, VOIP etc

Have you read the manual yet? Very handy, everyone looking into playing should read it.
Tips:
-The Insurgency game mode is easier than AAS IMO. Al Basrah is the most stable Insurgency map, and the battlearena server is rather good. https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f29-pl ... erver.html
-Observe how other players play, where they position themselves, what objects they use, what kit you are best at. Take tips from mates in your squad, they'll give you some quick advice when you have a rocket and an APC is around the corner.
-Stick with your squad, especially an Infantry squad. This isn't vanilla where the whole squad is all in different parts of the map.
If you stick with your leader, you can set rally points with ease and be a stronger fighting force.

Yea i have voip and i was with a really awsome squad last night ^_^ it was in the game i actually got some kills in lol. I don't like asking to many questions in game because i don't wanna distract my squad leader and end up getting him killed that would make me feel bad lol. Also whats the acog like in this game? Im kinda scared to use it because pretty much everyother game ive used it in (Call of duty 4 and Americans army) it kinda sucked accuracy always takes a hit and close combat means instant death. So whats it like in this game?

The ACOG's pretty good, before we only had a zoomed in iron-sight M16A2, due to lack of the M16A4 model, but that's all in the past.HellsGate9999 wrote:Yea i have voip and i was with a really awsome squad last night ^_^ it was in the game i actually got some kills in lol. All of the scopes are said to be poor in CQC, but I find the pin-point accuracy helps when planting headshots up close. Irons are reputed to rule in CQC, but I'll often opt for a scope.
The weapons for the different armies differ. G3's for the MEC have high recoil, but one shot will leave the target critically wounded. M16A4 have a high rate of fire, the sights are convenient, but the burst is only good up close. The Chinese rifle takes time to get used to, but the scope is known to be the best.
Tip: guns have unique noises in PR. You can tell which gun is being fired, so if you're Chinese and you hear British rifles, brace yourself.

Re: Newbie in town
Thanks for the tips Today Cyrax-Sektor I have another question. Is there an easy way to identify enemy troops? I have trouble telling friendly's from enemies I usually use my Banoculers (Sp?) and if they light up blue there teammates and if they don't i shoot them dead ^_^ Also i hear peaple calling out enemy movment and tanks and whatnot do these not so up on you minimap anymore? Well tab map since there is no minimap lol but when someone calls out an enemy tank how do you know where the tank or he is at. One more thing (Lol sorry for all the questions) But a few times i would be down in tall grass not moving a inch just sitting there and all of a sudden BAM one shot from 500 meters away im dead as a doorknob it happend a few time in just one game but people was spotting me when i was pretty sure i was totally hiddin Is there a trick to spoting people in tall grass? i have trouble with it but from what i can tell some people are pretty good at it lol

The best thing you can do is find a good squad. Just keep joining different squads until you find one that is using rally points and working together. There is much to be learned from that kind of experience.
Also read the entire manual.

Don't be afraid if you don't get kills, teamwork is way more important. Medics>Snipers.

Re: Newbie in town
Grass doesnt draw on distances sadly. Thats a BF2 engine problem. You can see "through" it from a high distance, only buildings, objects, vehicles, trees and bushes give you real cover. Another important thing: You are larger than you'd think. The camera you watch the game from is located in the CHEST of the sodlier, not in the head. Another engine problem. So if you are behind cover and think you are covert 100%, your head may still stick out. Thats especialy annoying when you are in the prone position and think only your head sticks out of cover, while it is your whole body.HellsGate9999 wrote: One more thing (Lol sorry for all the questions) But a few times i would be down in tall grass not moving a inch just sitting there and all of a sudden BAM one shot from 500 meters away im dead as a doorknob it happend a few time in just one game but people was spotting me when i was pretty sure i was totally hiddin Is there a trick to spoting people in tall grass? i have trouble with it but from what i can tell some people are pretty good at it lol

Yeah, as Leky points out, kills aren't the most important thing.LekyIRL wrote:Don't be afraid if you don't get kills, teamwork is way more important. Medics>Snipers.![]()
A tank gunner might get a load of kills but that wouldn't be possible without a decent driver (who might not get any kills all game) who'd be rewared points accordingly... kinda.
A medic is one of the most important members of an infantry squad but he's not thinking about killing, he's thinking about saving lives. The only reason he has a weapon is to defend himself.

Re: Newbie in town
If you would like someone to give you some tips as you play I would gladly help out, I'm usually in the Tactics & Teamwork server and my Xfire name is Katash.
Most important tip is get a mic and set it up properly, ppl in PR use VOIP way more than in vanilla.
Offer open to any newbie by the way, just find me and ask me for help.

Usually when a target is spotted, it shows up on your large map accessed with the 'M' key. The TAB map works sometimes, but the 'M' map often shows the spotted unit. Also, if the spotted unit is very far from your position, you won't see it on your map, BF2 engine thing.

Re: Newbie in town
Okay I am giving you a tip. Support/teamwork>kills Played a good round on jabal as apc driver hold that apc as a usmc for nearly one hour with another guy as gunner well I ended the round with one kill and 0 deaths. But still I happened to be 2nd in the ending scoreboard beaten by the commander getting 2x his score. Not that score is really important for pr but its showing how good you did it and that you get your reward in the end. So remember support/teamwork>kills. because support/teamwork often is =as kills good teamwork alot of kills few deaths.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

If you decide to be part of a tank crew, be an Engineer and man the 50 cal. Jump out when you need to do repairs. I like doing this and my tank crew really appreciates it.
