Just woundering, would it be possible to make some kind of similar smoke effect on the jets? So that if you're flying close to the ground you will get this semi-big dust cloud after you.

That would make jets so cool. Plus the pilot would get a bit of a visual que as to how close to the ground he is. I would like to see that as well IMHO!
Another thing is that if you hit the after burnners on a jet you should see the sound barriar wave break over the jet wings. IE might not be possable sense all aircraft use the same effects, and it looks different for all jets in real life but it would add that extra bit of realism thats for sure.
Also the bombs that planes drop need a nifty sound for when they are in the air and falling to the ground. Right now it's like a silent death that you don't find out about till it's too late. Thats easy to do, BF2 has sounds for it just make them lowder and last a bit longer and your good.
BTW While we are on the subject of sound why is it that you don't hear bombs from fare away but if you see them there is no sound too them? You hear and see the JDAM for miles, but if a bomb is dropped you see it sure, but the sound is not there at all. IMHO it would make things like a bomb or missile strike much better if we had some more pop like sound for them in the distance. IE BF2 has them for vehicle explosions so we can use those for hits and things as well at a distance.
FFOW dose this and it's great that you can look out and see as well as hear the sounds of distant bomb drops, airstrikes, and tank shells.

The water effects have been improved, its in one of the videos. I have added more mist really. There are different types of effect for different terrain, so grass can be changed aswell.Gunwing wrote:You will also need some different effects for landing on grass as well. Another thing is there would be less but still should be some dirt, or grass thats ripped up by a chopper if it lands on it.
We will also need some better watter effects as well, but thats only if we can get this stuff working well for lower end PCs. That or make it so only the high end settings in BF2 will make these effects show up for the player, but then we would have some major glitcher problems where the higher end PC users can't see, but the lower end can.
It's quite the pickle thats for sure Hmmmmmmmmm...............
As far as I know they do only show up for medium/high effects.
As for jets, I am not sure. Do you really fly that close to the ground though?

It was already there, but I don´t think you could see it well.

Well later on in the week when I have more time I am going to try and finish a few *simple* effects and as you say it is probably a good idea to release it and then people can see first person/amount of possible lag. 
So far:
Dust effect: finished depending opinions.
AA missile: finished depending opinions.
Hydras/hellfires: In progress but getting there I think. Check my youtube profile for a preview (can't link atm). Compare with "apache destroys car" search on youtube. Quite hard to get right these. In an ideal world the sounds would be changed also.
Water helo draft effect: done more or less.
Grass/other effects need testing so wip.
Also need to test other rockets (hat, lat, etc).
That's all I can think of atm. Need to have a look at the tanks
and trying to make a light for kashan nights runway to test, but is proving difficult. Also haven't been able to find the hydra rocket pod backblast effect.

Hydra effects sort of nearly to my liking, although a bit hard to get right. Maybe too dark/much I don´t know. Best in high quality.

I think it needs more fade in and maybe a lower alpha.. If you do that it comes close to the reference from youtube i think. The rest is all fine with me, heli dust effect looks nice too, Nice work

At the end it is a huey.That doesn't look like a Huey... though if it was that would certainly help all those stalemates at west beach.

One good thing to do with the explosions to add a realistic feeling is the wind carring the smoke explosion.
Off course I know that the bf2 engine is not so friendly to accept a wind concept, but take a look to the most video of small explosions, like grenades. You could try add a the "moving-dust-after-explosion" animation.
