Must correct: Now it does not work for me, after a few rounds i can press b but no symbol appears, and no one hear me. Dont matter if i get mic on or off in windows. in 0.6 it never happened.

I was already wondering, because unmuting it in windows did not help at all for me :(

Same shit here, just a different pile.
When the voip does work- the MIC in winblowz sound control panel is set to mute.
Doesn't make sense but it's true, I can unmute and the voip will still work.
However when the voip stops- it stops.Reloading the game gets it back.
Using WinXP32- SP3 -RC2, XFI XtreamMuzik, latest beta
drivers.
The only solution (for me atm:twisted :) is the Team Squeak.

which is clearly better than ingame voip in the first place ;) if you have enough ppl on the ts server, that is.

Its def a problem with the new build of PR. I never had a problem before, and even if I do alt-tab to sound props I dont need to unmute anything. Very frustrating since communication is everything. :d uh:

I also notice that one time when I went to my sound properties while durring a game, when I got back to the game my voip stopped too. So maybe theres a connection to the in game sound properties or something.

I´ve not realized a pattern like you described.
I could Alt-Tab the game and do anything. It never caused the Voip bug yet.

One thing I realized though is that when I switch servers alot I get the Voip bug. I never got it when playing on one single server for a long time.

I have the same problem with PR .75. Never happened to me during .6 at any time.

I see a bit of "spike lag" every time one is using it, is there any way to improve its performance?

I noticed it after going to the in-game sound properties at the main menu, not alt-tabbing. Sry for the mix up

Still not fixed and EA's help desk offers the same solutions as mentioned here, they are useless money grubbers.

I just heard from danthemanbuddy that one thing thats always worked for him is:

If you have no sound card:
go to the dxdiag in the run command[start menu->run]
go to audio tab
turn hardware acceleration of sound to basic

Or if you have a soundcard:
and the other solution for xfi/creative
is when voip stops working ingame, alt tab out of game, go to the creative console launcher application[if creative] it should set to run in game mode
Now, switch it to entertainment mode and it will give u an error saying you are ingame and therefore cannot change.
click ok
then alt tab back ingame
it should be fixed

This is not my suggestion as I havent tried it, however, danthemanbuddy asked I pass this along in case it helps. Someone who wants to, try it out next time and let everyone else here know.
Thanks,
Okita

Giving it a try

Post by Komsomol »

Thank you so much for that. I will definitely try that.

The VOIP stopping in game is the most frustrating issue to me. I have the XFI sound card. Once it stops working I usually need to reboot entirely (since I use VOIP in game and Google Talk to talk with a buddy)

I tried it and it works as a fix, thanks alot Okita

To summarize:

For people with the X-Fi card this is the fix:

1. When your Mic stops working mid game, alt tab out
2. Launcher Creative tools
3. You will probably be in GAME mode, switch to ENTERTAINMENT mode
4. It will say that it can't do that because the audio blah blah is in use.
5. Go back to PR your VOIP/Mic should be working.

I confirm this works on my X-FI MusicXtreme with Google Talk running background for voice.

Tried this with X-Fi Extremeaudio and no, this isn't fix for the mic bug. I've done multiple re-installations, latest on totally new hardware. Real solution is still somewhere out there. :(

EDIT: Seems like like this trick is working. Not every time thou.

I have this same problem except when my voip goes out it just fades in and out as Im holding the button down.

I have x-fi extreme music.

I tried the "switching modes from gaming to entertainment fix" and it works for a few communications then goes back again so I have to keep doing it over and over.

I also tried leaving the creative console on with the mute off while in game and that seemed to last longer

I got lazy so I tried just alt tabing without going to the creative console then alt tabing back into the game and that worked too.

I dont remember this problem happening before the latest patch.

Quite peculiar.

Okay here is a possible solution to this problem.

This is a solution to the vanilla BF2 problem where it no longer shows your transmitting on VOIP, even though your pressing your VOIP button.

When a round of PR ends or when your disconnected/kicked, and your in the middle of transmitting (holding down the VOIP button), the game automatically MUTES your mic. When you attempt to rejoin the server, the game still keeps your mic muted (its forgets to unmute it).

So in order to fix this, in game you press TAB, press right click to bring up your cursor, and go to the PLAYERS/MANAGE section of the TAB screen.

There will be little speakers next to each players name, click on the speaker next to YOUR name. The graphic will NOT change at all, but now your mic is unmuted.

This happens to me alot on the TG server when Im kick for supporting member and Im in the middle of talking to my squad... I forget how I found this out but its definitely come in handy many times...

lemme know if this was your problem..
